Greyhound Racing Tips For Monday 8th April 2013

A maiden final here with a couple of really good young dogs engaged. Outback Joe, and Knocknagoshel; named after a small NorthEast town in Ireland – a clever name for the son of Knocka Norris. Outback Joe, by Lochinvar Marlow speared out of the boxes and carved out a 5.71 first section last week but was run down and beaten on the line by a whisker by Knocknagoshel. Outback Joe, is well boxed again and both dogs will take great benefit from last weeks run. Knocknagoshel, will have to jump better than he did last week from the squeeze box here tonight to beat Outback Joe again. Expect Outback Joe, to be off and gone early on, and he may skip away with an unassailable lead. He should start second favourite, and is the likely winner for mine.

Angle Park Greyhounds, Race 1 Box 1 Botha Bale 6.38pm

Speedy race with a few winning chances. Most of the money will come for the well travelled former QLD Laurie Lachlan, after his quick 29.88 win last start. Laurie Lachlan formerly owned by Blues legend, Tommy Raudonikis and trained by profile trainer Jamie Mchugh, here in QLD is a very moody dog who needs to ping and have it all his own way to win. That will not happen here tonight. With plenty of speed coming from the inside 3 boxes, they should hold Laurie out and spell the end of his chances. Botha Bale, probably named after South African boxing legend Fran's Botha. Should account for these from an inside box. Expect her to punch up early and hold the rail. She only needs to hold her position and produce her best effort to win this. She has posted a quick 30.16 here and a repeat of that will see her collect the winners cheque here tonight. It appears a race where the roughies may find the placings, so if you are having a go at a multiple then don't leave the roughies out.

Bulli Greyhounds, Race 3 Box 1 Logan John. 7.52pm

I know this bloke will be favourite, but he hails from a pretty good litter with some fast dogs in it. The Son of Elite State and Pretty Sudden won well here last week in 22.90. He can go much faster and will take great benefit from last weeks first up performance. Jason Thompson, a leading Victorian trainer, campaigned his brother for a while before returning him home. If this bloke has a touch of speed like his brother, expect him to let fly here. Boxed well and in form against an ordinary bunch. Everything points to him winning here. Great bet.

Launceston Greyhounds, Race 6 Box 2 InThe Book. 9.23pm

This is probably total madness, selecting a dog who has won only 1 race against an entire field full of highly promising flying machines. Two runners have smashed the 30.00 mark in this. Now, In The Book, needs to be placed in your little black book; I don't think he can win this race tonight but he may run a place. He will be huge odds and punters should get great value. He has enormous early pace once he hits the ground, and this bloke will certainly knock up winning plenty of races. A few starts ago he showed blinding pace after missing the start and raced extremely well. Incredibly hard race and forget it, if he runs unplaced in this. Put him In The Book and wait patiently. Place Bet Only.

Shepparton Greyhounds, Race 9 Box 8 Chunuk Bair 9.51pm

The son of Collision drops back to a more suitable distance here for mine and has drawn very well. He's had 2 weeks off and does posses a big motor. He needs room and is only a ordinary beginner, but really hits his straps after the first 100. He will be over the odds in this and if they jam up or make a mistake, this bloke will be coming fast and hard down the outside. He's a bit out of form but I think it's due to his recent step up in distance, which he didn't handle all to well. Only an each way chance here tonight but will be great value in a race full of speedsters. Each way only.
