Dakota Joe didn't have much luck in his 600m debut here last week and he should be much better for the run. In his race last week the gaps never really opened up for him. Today in the smaller field he should be able to work his way through the field with ease and should prove far too strong in the run home. Black Gecko is expected to punch through and lead early. He should set a cracking pace but I think the last 50m may be a challenge for him. Ping King is the interesting runner, he seems to reserve his best for the Gawler track but this race isn't strong and he should be in the mix with some luck early.

Footrot Flare had no luck at all when resuming from a spell recently and she should be able to make amends today. Before going from a spell she had set the track alight at Gawler with a slick 22.64 win and there isn't anything in this field that can get near that sort of time. Today she has slow beginners drawn on either side and if she can get away on terms with them, she should be able to lead from go to whoa. Naturally Curly is armed with a monster finish but he has been dropping out a lot further than normal in the early stages of his races recently, however this is not a strong race so he should be able to pick them off in the closing stages. Knuckle Boom and Double Diego round out the chances, both should settle somewhere near the lead and they should be able to hold on for some of the minor money.
