Beckenbauer has returned to racing in fine style and he really caught the eye when placed here last week behind the classy Lamia Bale. He is armed with a tremendous turn of foot and if he can step away on terms he should have more than enough pace to cross and lead. Thunderlips led all the way here last week in 29.82 and from the red he appears to be the danger, he should settle on the speed with Beckenbauer but he might get a little tired in the last 30m. Joey Valdez has a heap of talent but he can make mistakes in his races, if he gets a few breaks early he should be a major player. Miss Society rounds out the chances, she drops in class and distance and she may be worth a bet if she goes around at silly odds.

Cambridge Prince has been racing consistently without winning of late and his latest two efforts here have been great. Today he drops considerably in class and with some luck early on he should prove too strong. He is likely to go around at the $7 mark and that is a great each way price. Dr. Des has the class edge and he is likely to lead for a long way, I have my doubts about him running a strong 595m but this is a fairly weak race and he may just steal the prize. Nureyev rounds out the chances, he was smartly placed here last week and he should be storming home in the final stages.
