Million Dollar Chase Final preview & best bets | Wentworth Park

Wentworth Park tips

Well, it has all amounted to this. The Golden Easter Egg has been run and won, and now the last major race night of the autumn is upon us. We have wonderful fields all night at Wentworth Park this Saturday, including finals of the Maiden Series, the Masters Meteor, the Gold Cup for stayers, the Ladies Bracelet, the Bob Payne Sprint, the Consolation, and the main event – the Chase. Good luck with your investments and we hope you find a few winners.

Race 1: gapnsw.com.au 5th Grade 520m

A nice tough race to begin with where the dog that leads around the first turn just might pinch it. Flash Banner showed good pace but just couldn't keep French Martini out last week and gradually drifted back from there, but that was her first look here. She's A Hotshot led a cracking MDC semi-final and just got checked on the home turn. Her early pace was impressive and that was her first look here; she will be improved closer to the fence and might take some beating. Black Fox often shows pace, but not sure if he can cross the inside division. Springview Hawk will appreciate being back in 5th grade. Zambora Tan is the strong dog that will need luck, but if they mix up in front and he gets close, he will storm home. Unidentified is racing with great heart, but this is tougher and he is not well drawn out in the 7.

Race 2: Million Dollar Chase Maiden Final 520m

Our Boy Duke was an impressive winner first up in the heats. He knuckled over at the start but picked himself up and mustered quickly along the inside, and that was the end of the section. Drawn perfectly again in the cherry red and will be the dog to beat with natural improvement. Lovaz Bale was good off an awkward draw but draws worse with kennelmate Kai Bale – who went from the boxes in the heats – outside him. Spring Polar won his heat but faces a tough ask from this box, and Natteo Bale was the dog that probably finished the hardest of them all but would need a nice trail through and might be a minor chance. Let's All Chant might get good room early and run a cheeky race.

Race 3: Tedesco's Tailoring & Menswear 3rd/4th Grade 520m

What a cracking 3rd and 4th grade race we have here. All the runners are good enough to win, and all of them could be racing for far more money tonight. Analysing will ping, lead and run 30secs dead, but is there anyone that can run her down? Well, at least you will get a major sight for your money. Asiram has the speed to go with Analysing early, but does he have the strength to go past her? It will be interesting, and the respective PBs suggest he does. Castle Warrior has been superb of late but will be caught in a speed battle early; might struggle to cross, which would hinder his chances. Panorama led early before being flattened and falling. Any dog that can lead Vice Grip and Wow She's Fast must be a hope. Opal Model is the other speedster, but she likes to head to the outside at box rise and just might clear the pink and give herself a chance, although she has to cross two very quick dogs under her.

Race 4: Evans & Son Ladies Bracelet Final (G3) Non Graded 520m

Victorian Visitor McKeon Bale used the fence to advantage in her heat and now draws the red. She showed enough pace early but will not want to get cluttered up tonight. If she can find a way through at the first corner, she is a massive threat. Ties That Bind is a quality race bitch who gave nothing else a sniff in her heat win, clocking fast sectionals all the way. Bandit Jane from the leading trainer in NSW did it the tough way in the heat but is strong and tough and will be in for the fight. French Martini is the testing material. She has had the spotlight on her from her first start when she scared the Gardens track record. She was early and kept it going, and while the draw is awkward, the 5 is a handy box for good beginners. Forever Thankful chased French Martini hard but is badly boxed and it is hard to see her turning the tables here.

Race 5: Bob Payne Sprint Final (G3) Non Graded 520m

The boys' Group 3 race is next up and another cracking field is assembled. Grim Madara has started to understand what racing is all about and will relish being in the red box and will undoubtedly improve again. was the quickest heat winner and that was his first look here, so if he improves a length or two, he will be mighty hard to beat. Robotnik put away a good one in the heat and it's the night of nights for Peter Lagogiane having collected a couple of Million Dollar Chases already; awkwardly drawn but a big chance. Simply Limelight is a star and got smashed at box rise in the heats and did an amazing job to even qualify. Box 8 won't be any help, but he has untapped ability. Spring Gonzales is a place chance.

Race 6: Masters Meteor Final M1/M2/M3 520m

The Masters take centre stage and no one could begrudge the undisputed Wizard of Wenty, The King, or whatever you want to call Sunburnt Highway his last hurrah. He deserves to win it and it would be a wonderful to say goodbye to a champion. He will get a bit of room early and was the quickest heat winner but this is a crack field worthy of a group race. got caught four wide in a speed battle in the heats and almost dragged down when trying to challenge for the lead. Will be better boxed in here and is a major hope. Ebby Infrared will be fitter and better boxed out wide if left alone but has a habit of missing the kick a little and can't afford to give too much of a start here. Ritza Gloria won her heat in 30sec dead and if she can get into a handy position or even cross will be a big chance but is definitely not as well boxed out here. Fire Legend showed good pace and if he can hold them out to the first turn and they mix behind him is another with a better than average chance.

Race 7: Wentworth Park Gold Cup Final (G3) Non Graded 720m

The stayers contest the Gold Cup next and it will be a two dog market. Super Estrella looks like the leader and if she gets a break in front will be hard to beat but can she outstay Zipping Kansas, who is moderate early but has a massive motor through the middle 400m of these races and if he gets room and luck is probably the strongest stayer in the state. Holistic Key is honest and will try hard and Ziggy Stardust ran home well while Hank The Hustler can always pop up for a place in these races but it looks a race in two and luck be a lady tonight.

Race 8: Million Dollar Chase Consolation Non Graded 520m

The consolation worth $25k to the winner will brighten the night of the connections that ran 2nd in their semis and just missed out on a shot in the big one. Zipping Maserati just ran out of fuel when nailed by Irinka Riley in the semi and will appreciate the inside and a moderate beginner outside him. On times he may well be the one to beat. Modern Talking was gallant behind the superstar She's A Pearl and will get a bit of room with the 6 heading left at box rise and could be good value for a trainer that loves this night and was chasing his third Million winner. Plaintiff was good in the race of the reserves just not being able to hold off Zambidis he will be further improved and has good early pace but is awkwardly drawn. Zippy Tesla is the strong dog and if they mix at the first turn and allow him a shot at them may live to regret it. Black Flipper keeps defying the odds and Fernando Hunter is a minor chance.

Race 9: Million Dollar Chase Final Non Graded 520m

Well, in about an hour less than it takes Eddie McGuire to try to give away a million dollars, some lucky connections will hold their breath for about 29.5 seconds and then burst into tears of joy. But who will it be tonight? Jodie Lord has three live chances, Frank Hurst will like his chances, and Mark Gatt will be holding on for dear life. Here's how we see it.

1. Coast Model – Back to her brilliant best and scorched around in 29.69 in the semi. Loves box 1 and that is a massive advantage in a final where they could be eight wide early. A massive threat if the favourite does anything wrong.

2. Ritza Donna – The Megastar winner just keeps finding and did it the tough way, battered from pillar to post early before finding the shortest way home. She can't afford to give some of these chasers a start, but if they mix, she will be on the fence early and storming home. Might be the best value in the race.

3. – Gavin Clifton has the lone Victorian left in the Chase this year, and while his semi win was impressive, he will need to find another few lengths to win this. Still, you have to be in it to win it.

4. She's A Pearl – What can you say about this little girl other than ‘OMG!'? She just keeps pinging the lids and running the hands off the clock. If Wenty was as quick as it once was, she would give the record a shake, but we're sure connections will take an all-the-way victory in whatever time. Unless she does something completely out of character, this race is at her mercy.

5. Good Odds Cash – Frank Hurst knows what it takes to win this having won this race in 2019 with Good Odds Harada. Can lightning strike twice as it did for the Lagogianes? She will need her very best and if she produces that would go mighty close. May just be the knockout.

6. Irinka Riley – Another in a very astute kennel and was very determined in his semi-final win but cannot afford to give any of these a head start as he won't be running them down tonight, especially if they run a time. A place chance if they mix and he gets a clear shot.

7. Zambidis – If this boy could complete the fairy-tale, then maybe we should have doctors standing by for trainer Chris Arletos. Was first reserve and sent out at $100 in his semi and did it tough four wide early before sweeping around them and proving too strong for a good Victorian, Plaintiff. Will start at similar odds again tonight, but hey – he is one dog in eight and someone has to win it, right?

8. – The third of the Lord runners and maybe the best in their kennel. Has only had 10 career starts and finds himself in a Million Dollar Chase final. His semi win was gutsy, copping a couple of checks and a big one on the home turn, and he has untold talent. If he was to win, he could be the first to try and defend the title. Doesn't mind it out wide and may well play a part.

Race 10: Adopt A Greyhound Today 5th Grade 520m

A quality 5th grade to bring down the curtain on some of the best chasing we have seen at Wenty Park and our Awesome Autumn of chasing. Father Rick was impressive off box 6 last time out clocking 29.8 has done that twice now and a hat-trick of 29.8s might just be enough to steal this. Yuko Girl had been flying before getting posted 4 wide going into the first turn in her MDC semi and knocked out of the race. She has exceptional early pace and could lead this race but could also suffer a similar fate. Tachycardic has been racing the best going around and drops back to a 5th grade tonight and will appreciate the class drop but is awkwardly drawn. Zipping Pearson is more than capable of beginning and holding them out to the first turn and that would give him every hope. Zipping Lopez has ability and is strong but needs the fence.
