Million Dollar Chase semi-finals preview & best bets | 29/4/2022

Wentworth Park tips

Tonight is the night that the Chase will be dwindled down to the eight finalists. Only the winners will advance, and what fields we have! All races are wide open and there is value galore. The stayers will provide the supporting act as they qualify for the Gold Cup. Good luck with your investments – hopefully we can guide you to some winners.

Race 1: Gold Cup Heat 1 Gold Cup (G3) Non Graded 720m

Ziggy Stardust won well last start and while the time wasn't he did well enough to suggest he would be a chance of leading from the inside and difficult to beat. Knicks Bale up from Victoria has some excellent middle distance form recently and has won the version of this race and must be kept safe on his Wentworth Park debut. Zipping Virginia comes home after chasing the big group staying races in WA. Likes this track and has a nice P.B. so must be included. Super Estrella looks the leader but is she strong enough to repel some of the best stayers in Australia? Hester has also been good without being outstanding and might get a nice run from box 8.

Race 2: Gold Cup Heat 2 Gold Cup (G3) Non Graded 720m

Hank The Hustler has also been racking up the frequent flyer points lately chasing the big staying race and just loves box 1 and would not surprise me to see him very prominent early and scooting along the fence to win. The NSW staying champ Stanley Road has drawn horribly in the 5 but he doesn't know how to run a bad race and will be there when it matters most. Zipping Kansas had no luck in the Association Cup here recently and is a massive threat is capable of anything when he is on and Dave Irwin doesn't come to town too often these days and when he does it usually means he has a high opinion of his chaser and Pocket Money has worked through the grades and distances nicely on the north coast and must be respected.

Race 3: Million Dollar Chase Semi-final 1 Non Graded 520m

Casual Glance qualified at Gunnedah and then won well here two week back. Box 1 will help and is usually a good beginner that may cause a few issues in this race. Zipping Maserati qualified at Maitland and then beat his brother here in a good performance and is a definite threat. Lala Kiwi is tall class and after blowing the start recovered well to grab 2nd last week but can't afford any mistakes in this winner takes all affair. My Boy Rockin' repelled the Victorians to qualify at in a flying time and deserve a shot here but is awkwardly drawn in a quality field and Irinka Riley qualified at Bathurst and has beaten some good ones recently but this is harder.

Race 4: Million Dollar Chase Semi-final 2 Non Graded 520m

Zipping Lopez has only missed a place three times in his 27 race career and looks up to the big step up in class to give this a real shake. Miss Ezmae has scorched the Dubbo sand recently after chasing group staying glory and is super strong and if she can match these early is a massive threat. Equaliser scrapes into the semis and need to mend his Wenty Park box manners if we are to see his best and for him to qualify for the big one but he is extremely talented. Fernando Hunter qualified at Gunnedah but loves Wenty and a wide draw and must be respected and Coast Model is poorly drawn but can show pace on her night and did win last week although she got all the favours.

Race 5: Million Dollar Chase Semi-final 3 Non Graded 520m

Zippy Tesla is another who needs to begin better but has box 1 and used the inside to his advantage when 2nd to Big Opal Rocks last week and did run down a dog called Doonan so you know he is strong but will need luck to come from back in this field. Good Odds Cash will finally be glad to be in a race that doesn't have Louis Rumble or She's A Pearl. She has been chasing her heart out and deserves a change of luck. won the Maitland qualifier and has been flying but has never been past 450m will the last 70m test him? Who knows but he does possess above average early pace. Barefoot Ronnie is aiming high in career start number seven and Soul To Squeeze qualified through the tough Dapto series and likes the wide draws.

Race 6: Million Dollar Chase Semi-final 4 Non Graded 520m

Well you know what you will get with Analysing around here, she will begin like the wind and run around 29.9 but is there something that can past her? Wow She's Fast would have been a pleasing debut for connections but just found one that wanted it more. A quick time on her debut here and will be improved from that run and is the one to beat might get a lovely cart into the race from Analysing. Photo Man got pummelled on debut here and did well to run third, still poorly drawn but a real chance. Zara's Ivan has also been chasing the best around and while I would prefer him drawn down on the fence must be included and it's not often the Pringle travel to Sydney these days but they have in and she is a young bitch with a good future while Space Girl has enough pace to make a nuisance of herself early.

Race 7: Million Dollar Chase Semi-final 5 Non Graded 520m

Can She's A Pearl keep the picket fence going? She has been beaten only once in her last 17 and she just keeps pinging running sectionals and finishing it off will be short again tonight but may not get it all her own way. Castle Warrior is a quality dog and while he probably can't match She's a Pearl early can follow her into the race and hang on for dear life. Aston Barak won a race off this box 3 starts back and must be a chance and Opinions loves the red rug only missing a place once from in there and might get some luck if the fan behind the leader and Modern Talking is trained by the “Maestro of the Million” Peter Lagogiane who has won this race twice already and cannot be dismissed.

Race 8: Million Dollar Chase Semi-final 6 Non Graded 520m

Persuasive was destructive winning the heat and final of the qualifier at Bulli against serious competition and just loves box 1. He will zoom along the fence early and prove very hard to beat. Xavien Bale for the strong Grenfell kennel came through the Wagga series and is a serious greyhound. Vice Grip did what a lot of people thought was impossible and gave Wow She's Fast a start and a beating last week. He was ultra-impressive and will only improve from that run and will be the real testing material in this. possess exceptional early pace and is flying around recently is a chance of leading this all the way. Mickey Doo had to chase persuasive in the Bulli series then came here and destroyed a good field can be a bit hit and miss at box rise but the wide draw will suit and he will be a knockout chance.

Race 9: Million Dollar Chase Semi-final 7 Non Graded 520m

Louis Rumble gets the chance to keep his impressive record going the only blemish was in the big one (the EGG) when he ran out at the first turn and gave the race away. I don't think he is badly drawn in the 5 and I think he will lead them a merry dance. Doonan is a favourite here and he just hasn't been beginning like he can and would need to get it all right tonight. War Weapon off the red must be given a rough hope and Neville Brown has his chasers flying of late. Boston Garden showed just what he can do when he gets the start right last week beating a quality field in good time but can he ping 2 weeks in a row??? While She's A Hotshot deserves her go in town after winning the Broken Hill Cup and qualifying. It a long trip to Wentworth Park and we wish the connections all the best of luck.

Race 10: Million Dollar Chase Semi-final 8 Non Graded 520m

Another quality semi-final to round things out tonight. Big Opal Rocks draws poorly in the 6 but the way he won here in 29.6 on his first go here indicates just how good he could be. He may get enough room early to power down the middle of the track and will be mighty hard to beat. is a quality dog just racing below his best but a return to top level form would not surprise. Connections flew to win the Gardens qualifier series and has the pace and speed to lead these and if that happens he rarely loses. Daph's Ascend is another quality dog that just doesn't know how to run bad races but a place is not enough tonight it's all or nothing and Sound of Silence is talented but would need his best in this hot event.
