Rockhampton greyhounds preview

is set to host a 12 race program on Wednesday night from 6:55PM local time. The meeting is headlined by a 4th/5th-grade 510m race where Ring Me will battle with Bank Heist in a five dog field. The weekly top grade 407m race features the likes of and who is searching to make it two on the bounce.

Best Bet: RIng Me (Race 4)

Outstanding country sprinter Ring Me hails from leading trainer, Ken Boody's Dalma kennels and will be striving for her 20th career victory stepping back up to the 510m. Ring Me has sparkled around Rockhampton in recent times having won a heat of the Rockhampton Cup and finishing fourth in the final only beaten just under two lengths by running a personal best, 29.74. Since then, she has travelled to for a crack at the QBRED heat/final where she was able to win her heat and once again, fail in the final running a luckless second to Fogelberg. She returns to the Rockhampton 510m where we can expect her to do a lot of her racing over the next three months. She finds a shallow race with the only possible danger being Bank Heist however, this runner is a slow beginner and has a wide runner drawn inside. She will lead her rivals by three heading into the first corner, extend the lead down the back, get tired late but hold on to win comfortably.

Next Best: Shanti (Race 3)

Shanti has been in the care of Darren Taylor for just over a month now and looks cherry ripe to record her first win for the camp. Since arriving at Rockhampton, she has been luckless with having drawn no closer than box five. In all her races to date, she has shown good box speed but has been unable to lead on most occasions. The only time she led, she clocked a quick 9.01 first sectional which resulted in her leading by upwards of 3 lengths before being dragged down by the eventual winner in Protagonist. He was able to run 23.77 on this occasion and it's safe to estimate Shanti would have gone slightly quicker than her 24.11 recorded time. She finds a race tonight that appears very open with Ninetymile Rocks the current favourite beaten in her past three as favourite. Shanti holds a terrific 6: 2-1-2 record from box one. Expect this love affair with the red box to continue tonight on route to Shant's ninth career victory.

Best Value: Danish Cake (Race 8)

Extremely open top graded sprint where you could argue a case for most runners. This leaves appeal in finding the leader which could get away with this race and Danish Cake has the speed to do so. The two-year-old daughter of Zambora Brockie x Alpha Nemesis burst onto the scene in Rockhampton having recorded multiple wins early doors for trainer after being sent due to a fighting charge. Her bad behaviour cost her a race against similar opposition just over two months ago when looking the winner at the turn before fighting with Pereira across the finish line and going down half-a-length at $13. In her return efforts, she has lacked that same box speed however, she wouldn't necessarily have to ping to lead tonight. Both White Like Snow and in box one and two have a tendency to step slow and run off the track. Velocity Tamika in box three is dropping back from 510m and could be flat. Outside her she has a box vacant and not real searing top speed from six, seven or eight. Expect her to find the top and given she can find her best she will be ultra-competitive at the good quote.
