Sandown Greyhounds Tips & Betting Preview March 27th 2014 – Part One

Race 1 – 715M Novice Final – 7:07PM

In a race which includes a number of one-paced chaser, it is hard to get excited about taking odds on with Storm Red. Having scored an impressive heat win from this draw last week, I believe that she is worth taking on tonight. Norrie's Antics should be around the $10.00 mark and I think she has the ability to lead all the way in this weak event.

Our Spotty is a professional placegetter and he wasn't totally disgraced in his heat last week. From the middle draw he will need an ounce of luck but he is a must for all exotic bets.

Storm Red obviously the class factor, however I can't back her at the short odds.

Top Four :    6 – 1 – 4 – 3

Suggested Bet: Norrie's Antics each way with , should get double figures.

Trifecta: 1,6/1,6/Field ($12 for $1)

Trifecta 1,6/1,3,4,6,8/Field ($48 for $1)

Race 2 – 515M Grade 5 Heat – 7:24PM

Bogner Bale has had little luck in his recent runs, normally a reliable beginner and with the advantage of an empty draw directly outside, he should pounce on the early lead and prove too classy.  If you can find anything around the even money mark, load up.

Mepunga Ranger is much better than his recent form suggests and with some luck in the early running he should fill the quinella spot.

Sapporo and Salegreys Power look to be the only other hopes, however Sapporo has seen better days and Salegreys Power faces a stiff task in trying to cross early.

Top Four :    4 – 3 – 7 – 8

Suggested Bet:

Trifecta: 4/3,7,8/3,7,8 ($6 for $1)

Trifecta 3,4/3,4/Field ($12 for $1)

Quinella 4 Roving with 3 & 7

Race 3 – 515M Grade 5 Heat – 7:46PM

The smart Osbourne Bale faces a significant class drop and he seems to do his best racing at this track. With some early speed drawn directly underneath, he should get a nice cart across early and prove too strong in the run home.

Cee Ronaldo has got plenty of gears but he is extremely unreliable early. From the squeeze box he will rely heavily on luck, but he can definitely threaten with some room early.

Place claims must be given to Mepunga Locky and Missile Flash. Missile Flash has shown improvement in every run since crossing to Victoria.

Top Four :    7 – 4 – 8 – 2

Suggested Bet: Osbourne Bale to win with Sportingbet.

Race 4 – 515M Grade 5 Heat – 8:07PM

Velocemente is surprisingly well drawn out in box six and he should be given plenty of room initially to muster speed and settle in a forward position. He has been racing in much stronger class of late and he should get every chance to return to the winners list.

Outside Velocemente there appears to be a number of chances. Johnny Heritage is very hit or miss early but he was far from disgraced when placed at last start. Given an ounce of luck early, he should be in the finish.

Tweak seems to be racing below his best but the drop in class may help him regain some much needed confidence.

Top Four :    6 – 4 – 5 – 3

Suggested Bet: Velocemente to win ($3 or better fixed at Sportsbet)

Race 5 – 515M Mixed 4/5 8:29PM

Mepunga Melachi got the cash for us at on the weekend at $22.00, but I think tonight he faces a tough task. Scintillating was just that when scoring here last week in 29.41. A repeat of his 5.02 first section sees him leading from go to whoa again.

Tick Bale was enormous when placed here last week behind Hooksy. He is likely to get back early again but he will be steaming home at the business end.

Shadow Lane and Mepunga Melachi are both drawn to make their presence felt. Shadow Lane does his best racing here and he can run time on the .

Top Four :    6 – 4 – 2 – 1

Suggested Bet: Trifecta 6/1,2,4/1,2,3,4,5,8 ($15 for $1)

First 4: 6/2,4/1/Field ($10 for $1)

First 4: 6/2,4/Field/1 ($10 for $1)

Race 6 – 715M Final – 8:52PM

Alpe D'Huez is likely to be short and he was quite impressive in his heat, however from a middle pin tonight he looks to be a major risk and is worth laying. Infinite Wish should be the value runner and should start around the $6.00 mark. In a race which features three or four leaders who struggle to run the trip, it is easy to see her getting a nice sit on the leaders and proving too strong in the run to the line.

Sisco Rage broke 42 seconds here last week and if he can settle in the first two or three again he is likely to be a major player. The draw doesn't look favourable but in his defence he is fairly reliable at box rise.

Alpe D'Huez finally broke a run of seven outs here last week in his heat. Like Infinite Wish, he is likely to be giving them a big head start but he will get past some tired chasers in the run home.

Top Four :    7 – 8 – 6 – 2

Suggested Bet: Quinella 7 to rove with 2,6,8
