GREYHOUND racing doesn’t get any better than tonight with the best racers in the land stepping out at The Meadows and the early stages of the Group 1 Golden Easter Egg series continuing in Sydney.
With plenty of people sure to be tuning in to watch the dishlickers, we have studied the form to bring you our best greyhound racing bets of the night.
Wentworth Park R5 No.8 Ask King Jeff
Unproven over the staying distance but you couldn’t find a steadier race to make your distance debut in town than this one. His rivals are either having their first starts over the trip or only boast fair records over the 700. He should be able to settle close to the front and will be very hard to catch.
Comes into this race after an unlucky fourth at Bulli over 590m – he hasn’t been seen since February 17 which means he is likely to have trialled over a bit further since then. He is in astute hands who wouldn’t be putting him in unless they were confident he’ll run the journey right out.
The Meadows R3 No.2 Annasay
Has come out well at her past two starts and she should be suited by box two tonight. Bit of speed on her direct outside, but if Annasay can hold her spot and settle second through the first turn she should be finishing too strongly.
The Meadows R4 No.5 Jesaulenko
Drops sharply in class and although he is getting on in age he is still going well enough to capture this race. Has missed the start his past couple but generally has good early dash – if he can punch up towards the front he will take some beating. Has clocked 29.67 here in the past and while he is probably not going as good as that now, he is still capable of giving the 30-second barrier a nudge which should be good enough to win.
Cannington R6 No.4 Max Profit
Has only had three 500s since resuming from a length spell earlier this year and each time he has raced well without winning. Last week he missed the start slightly in the Sandi’s Me Mum Memorial final and was never a winning chance, beaten five lengths in fast time. Tonight he finds himself in a race with much less early pace directly around him which should allow him to find a forward position. Couple of very strong dogs in this race, but if there is any trouble behind him he could pinch this race on the bunny.
