Saturday’s Wentworth Park preview & best bets – Christmas Eve

Wentworth Park preview

What better way to get ready for Christmas than to head to this Saturday for a sensational night of greyhound racing with eight heats of the Incapacitated At Stud fifth-grade series and a couple of fantastic lower-grade races. From everyone here at Australian Racing Greyhound, we wish you and your family a safe, peaceful and happy Christmas, and hopefully we can help you find a few winners.

BEST BET: Wyndra All Class (Race 2)

This daughter of and Winxette did the right thing for us again last start when winning in good style and in good time, albeit at a short quote. She has now put together five in a row and all of them in under 29.9 seconds, which is the sign of a very consistent, very good greyhound. She steps up in grade once more, again taking on . Add to that Simply Limelight and and hopefully that will just mean a better price for everyone. Her record is now an impressive eight wins and two seconds from her 13 career starts and there is no reason she can't add to that tally tonight. She is well drawn with the vacant box under her and the moderate beginner Zipping Alabama outside her, and if she can cross Falcon Fly, he just might run cover for her. She has had a nice freshen-up which should see her ready to fly and she might even set a new personal best tonight.

Danger: Simply Limelight is a quality chaser who will appreciate the outside box, especially when the seven dog heads to the fence early. He might have enough pace to sit handy to Wyndra early and has the ability to run a time, which is evidenced by his personal best of 29.62.

NEXT BEST: Red Hot Frankie (Race 1)

This little girl has had a bit of a break recently with just a 300m race at Dubbo since her non-graded debut here in November. She is much better suited back into a fourth-grade event after dominating the fifth-grade ranks here. In a race where there is not a lot of early pace, it looks as though if she can get across Nangar Archie early, she will have the front all to herself, and then it will just be a case of how fit master mentor Raymond Smith has this little girl. There are two extremely strong chasers in this race, but in front is the place to be at Wenty and where this girl will land. She has never had box eight in her 17-race career but has won a couple off box seven, and for good beginners box eight is a handy box at headquarters.

Danger: is in the same kennel as Frankie and has been racing so well of late over all distances, winning over the 500m and 700m journeys here. He lacks early pace and needs a touch of luck but loves to be down on the fence and will be scraping the Dulux all the way around tonight and charging home at the business end. If he gets clear running, he is the big threat to Frankie.

BEST VALUE: Nellie Intention (Race 6)

It's been a tumultuous 12 months for trainer but he just keeps producing the winners, including a treble on Monday night at . has been racing so well of late, nailing the starts and proving very hard to run past. Her win here off box one was quality and she followed it up with a good win at . She might not be able to run 29.7 at the moment but she may well lead this race, and if they don't run a very quick time, she is always a chance of leading all the way at odds. The vacant box under her will help her to get up to top speed quickly and cross to the front, and that is the best pace to be around Wentworth Park.
