The Meadows betting preview, best bets & odds | Saturday, 10/6/23

are set to host 12 races on Saturday night from 6:39PM local time. The feature race on the program is a 5th grade final (race seven) worth $12,000 to the winner. The following race is a cracking free-for-all contest where will be seeking revenge on Amron Boy following their match race where the latter came out on top.

Best Bet: Rhino Bale (Race 5)

returns to the scene off a one-month break and looks the best on the program. The two-year-old son of Fernando Bale x really started to live up to his breeding in the early stages of 2023 recording six successive wins. He demonstrated great versatility with wins coming at both 500m and 600m as well as inside boxes and wide boxes. Since then, he rose in grade and ended up running second at Group 3 level, beaten just under a length by at in April. The last time he faced the start he ran home well against Trapper Tears from this box over the 515m at Sandown. The freshen up should result in him jumping faster at this distance and there isn't a clear cut leader in this contest. His main danger appears to be Euler Bale who is for three straight wins however, draws awkwardly in box eight and will be heavily reliant on luck in running. Expect Rhino Bale to kick up, hold the fence and prove hard to hold out.

Next Best: Cawbourne Domino (Race 1)

Leading Victorian trainer, will be looking to open his account a winner with Cawbourne Domino. The two-year-old son of Sennachie x Cawbourne Ruby has had two starts with Delbridge since arriving from the Lord kennels in NSW. He was brilliant first up in a maiden heat where he jumped straight to the front and opened up to record a 13 length win in a slick 30.11. Last week in the maiden final he began awkwardly from box four and found his fair share of trouble around the 525m circuit at The Meadows. Once clear, he rattled home to finish an eye-catching third. The key to his chances tonight and into the future will be mapping a trouble free run to the first turn as he has the motor to make up many lengths given a clean run. Side Of Ice, Denison Frisby and Dishonest drawn inside him all have speed and have shown a liking to use the track. Given he can miss them early and cut back to the rails there's a large chance he will assume the perfect stalking position heading out of the first turn. He will rail hard and come home strong, just needs an ounce of luck early in the piece.

Best Value: Runnin' Dynasty (Race 4)

Bookmakers have this an open contest with four runners currently under $5. Runnin' Dynasty will be making her two turn track debut in search of her third successive win. The one-year-old daughter of Bernando x Zippy Zuri tips the scales at just over 25kg which makes her record to date impressive considering all of her starts have been at or Ballarat. She has shown terrific box speed in her past four starts to date resulting in three wins and an unlucky second. She doesn't possess the top searing speed of rivals while stepping up in class at the one turn tracks which makes this move to the two turn a masterstroke by trainer Andrea Chapple. She was very strong at the end of 460m at Geelong and recorded a good time of 25.72. The best of the night was Kiwi dynamite, who ran just two lengths outside the track record in 25.27. He also makes his two turn track debut the following day at Sandown. Little Prince drawn inside has shown early speed on occasions but seems to shirk the task when crowded by dogs. Winnington Bale on her outside is a notorious slow beginner which should leave plenty of room for her to find the top. She will definitely take benefit from the outing however; appears to be one to follow through the grades at both The Meadows and Sandown.
