Townsville tips, odds & quaddie picks | Tuesday, June 6
Townsville is set to host 12 greyhound races on Tuesday night from 6:55pm local time. The program is headlined by the Townsville Young Guns, which features the likes of Lush Ice, Teddy Box and Good Odds Rascal. There’s also a cracking top-grade 498m race where leading local trainer Bradley Belford has a strong hand with half the field including Winlock All Over, who is shooting for four straight wins.
Best Bet: Handy Jimmy (Race 4)
Since arriving in North Queensland from Western Australia, Handy Jimmy hasn’t received the best of luck. He has copped heavy collisions over his past few starts, which has knocked any chance he had to win. Accompanying this, he has faced a few hot 4th/5th-grade races against the likes of Pretty Cindy and Special Thunder as well as bumping into the progressive My Mate Neo. This race appears to be a much easier task. There isn’t a great deal of depth to this race with his main danger likely being kennelmate Saint Remi, who is drawn directly outside him. Handy Jimmy hasn’t quite been able to show his early speed to date, but the map here is good with two slow beginners outside him and a dog who wants to cut left inside him. If he can get through the first corner unscathed, he is happy to run outside dogs and will blow past rivals down the back.

Best Value: Gunnadoo Avenue (Race 3)
Gunnadoo Avenue will be searching for his first victory over this distance. The three-year-old son of Aston Kimetto x Gunnadoo Cove has proved to be a good money-spinner for connections having placed in over half of his starts to date. Despite being winless in his last five starts, he has run some encouraging races over this trip. Beginning from box one last week, he was able to kick up and find a spot behind the eventual winner, Pretty Cindy. He was out on his feet late in the piece but hung on for second in 29.03. Both Jupiter and Billy Buttons raced on the same night over this trip (498m) and recorded times of 29.00 and 29.03 respectively. Gunnadoo Avenue is drawn low once again and with another clean getaway can lead this race. The lack of difference in recent times for the top few in betting justifies Gunnadoo Avenue being the value play of the night.
