Wentworth Park betting tips

Friday the 13th at may be unlucky for some but for the connections of eight dogs and eight bitches it will be extremely lucky and will bring their greyhounds one step closer to group one glory. The age classic and National Futurity group one races are set down for result with five heats of the Derby and four of the Futurity ready to rumble here on an extra special Friday in what will be a sensational week of greyhound action. As always we will try to find you a few winners, hopefully at a little bit of value.

Derby Heats Best Bet – #1 Rockstar Apollo (Race 4)

Shaun Evans and Kayla-Jane Colman have this litter flying at present and after saluting with a treble here last Saturday night the whole and Rockstar Stratus winning trio will contest the Derby heats tonight with every chance of having three runners in the final. Rockstar Apollo looks to be the best of the three but all have winning chances. Apollo has won his last four in a row and his win here Saturday after being only moderately away and using his inside box to perfection was impressive especially when the clock stopped at 29.84secs. He has only had box one once for a win and the way he handled box two last week suggest he will relish this box. He should get some cover as the two dog will likely use a bit of the track as most of that breed tends to do and if he repeats the run form last week will be very difficult to beat.

Danger: Scofflaw, This Victorian visitor has put together an impressive record of late winning a heat of the group one silver chief at in fine style in good time, before running fourth in the final. Had a look in ordinary time in a trial but expect him to be primed to perfection for this heat.

Derby Heats Value Bet – #6 Transponder (Race 5)

This Victorian visitor has been racing so well of late as he has progressed through his grades impressively. May not be quite at the top level just yet but has a slashing 29.4 sec win at and is drawn to get a perfect cart into the race by the heavily fancied Victa Damian and may just prove to have slightly better speed early on. Has only had four career starts and has won three of them and has a third to boot and while this is a group one and a massive step up in grade , he may be the value and may the dog with the most upside going forward and should start around the double figure price mark. Definitely a dog to follow no matter what happens tonight.

Futurity Heats Best Bet – #5 Baby Jaycee (Race 8)

Robert Douglas brings this girl back to Wenty Park and she has been superb since failing in the heats. Her last start was an extraordinary 29.3 win at Sandown and if she brings that form north will be extremely hard to beat. The concern is her box five record which is only one second from five attempts and again she gets an awkward box with a moderate beginner immediately under her and the very speedy 297m Dapto dog Mount Gower outside her. With a touch of luck she will be underneath the six dog and be able to hold her spot into that first turn and prove too quick and classy for the rest of them

Danger: Mia She's Fast. This girl hasn't missed the quinella in her last nine outings and Frank Hurst has a knack of getting his chargers timed to perfection for these races. Just hasn't been able to find a way to put away Punter's Bandit in her last two getting beaten less than a neck in the heat and final of the cup and will appreciate being on the outside of Mount Gower as long as that girl doesn't spear off at the first turn.

Futurity Heats Value Bet – #2 Victa Marli (Race 7)

Tony Rasmussen brings this girl up from South Australia and she has a ton of early zip and that can be worth its weight in gold in these sorts of races. She won the Oaks and has then been stepped up to the longer 530m trip at where she has led and gotten a little tired. However with two tough 530m race under her belt and the speed she possesses her fitness should be spot on for this series and she will enjoy leading here at Wentworth Park. If she finds the front early like she maps to do then she will be extremely hard to run past. The dogs either side of her are the dangers but she should lead them and then cross your fingers.

Wentworth Park's Best Roughie – #8 Victa Alby (Race 2)

Anther of the Rasmussen team and another that has been in slashing form in South Australia albeit in higher graded races. Has a good record from box eight and that will help in his Wenty Park debut. He has enough pace to be prominent early, although he can often dwell at box rise and then has blistering acceleration/ his performances at the tough 530m distance at Angle Park will hold him in good stead here to be able to produce an upset at juicy double figure plus odds.
