Wentworth Park betting preview & tips | Saturday, October 15

Greyhound is set to be at Wentworth Park this Saturday night with 10 top quality greyhound races set down for decision at the Grand Old Lady of greyhound racing. With a myriad of great greyhound racing around the state and country at present it is nice to see such a good programme. It's great to see the super stayer going around again at headquarters as it is always a pleasure to see her strut her stuff. As always we will do our best to help you find some winners and hopefully at nice odds and as always please gamble responsibly.

Best Bet – Unlike You (Race 2)

Jason Magri puts the polish on this son of and Mrs Mouse and the dog is really starting to hit his strides and after ten career starts now has amassed five wins and three minor placings. His record here at Wentworth Park is very good too having had six starts for three wins and two minor placings. His last two wins have been excellent having only begun moderately and then accelerated through to assume control and really race away to good wins. Therein lays the only problem. If he misses the kick from box one he can get smothered down on the rail but his acceleration is good enough that he should be able to drive through approaching the first turn given he doesn't lead, he will hold a prominent position and then he will be too strong for these if he gets an even break. His personal best is lengths better than anything else in the race and if he can go anywhere near that will be winning. Unlike some of You we will definitely be cheering for Unlike You.

Danger: Wicked Crystal who can show good early pace on her night and if she does begin can cut across to the fence and cause a few concerns for our top pick but she hasn't broken 30 secs here as yet and would need to better that to beat Unlike You.

Next Best Bet – Canya Smoke Them (Race 8)

Owned by greyhound royalty Mark” The Duke” Duclos and trained by the wily evergreen veteran , has improved with every run he has had. He is now seven starts for three wins two seconds and a third and won his heat and the Final of the Maiden series in scintillating fashion. The time he ran in the maiden final was only a couple of lengths slower than the winner of the Million Dollar Chase itself which is impressive. He now finds himself in a very winnable 1-3 wins restricted race which is perfectly graded for him and he is well boxed getting the coveted cherry rug where he has one start for a win. His personal best time here at Wenty is a full half a second quicker than anyone else in this race and with his continued improvement of late Canya Smoke Them……Yes He Can but he will probably start a short priced favourite.

Danger: Tudor Fisk can begin and can run some and did beat a good one in some months back in good time but has yet to break the 30sec mark and is awkwardly drawn in the yellow but may be big enough odds for a little saver.

Best Value Bet – Zambidis (Race 10)

Here is a dog who made a Million Dollar Chase Final back in May and hasn't done a lot ever since. He had a few setbacks in the middle of the year and was very sparingly raced but on class alone he has to be given a good chance in this race. In his last start he was in a race with Unlike You and never ever got anywhere near the fence which he loves and still ran a very nice race. Now tonight he draws down closer to the fence , which will benefit him and there is a big chance he may be able to cross the two dogs drawn inside him early and that will give him every chance to set sail after the two early pace setters. Is he as good a dog as he was six months ago? Probably not, but at the odds is definitely worth an each way ticket.

Best Roughie – One Day Soon (Race 7)

Having just transferred over to last year's leading trainer this boy really flew out of the boxes at his last win at and that early pace, if he finds it here at Wentworth Park will be key. There are a few good dogs in the race all drawn together in the centre of the track and if they come together they may well allow this boy a big break. Can he run the 500m right out? Well that will be the big question and sometimes dogs transferring kennels take a run or two to settle right into the new regime and lifestyle but at the odds this boy will be he makes sense to be the roughie pick for tonight at any old odds.
