Wentworth Park tips and best bets

The traditional Saturday night meeting returns to with a very nice 10 race programme. Two 720m races is great to see on the programme and a few restricted class races help make up the card, but it really is a prelude to the Nation Sprint and Distance championships which are coming up in a couple of weeks' time. Please remember to gamble responsible and let's see if we can find you a couple of wallet fillers tonight.

Best Bet – Reflections (Race 5)

has been racing well albeit in maiden company yet this daughter of and Steal the Glory will find herself starting favourite in this fifth grade affair. She made great use of box two in a very average six dog maiden but the way she won suggests that veteran trainer has yet another quality chaser on her hands. Reflections ran great sections and a very quick overall time and there is absolutely no reason she won't do the same to this restricted fifth grade race. She is yet to miss a place in her three career starts and her two defeats have been behind her talented sister so she is expected to win again and break the thirty second mark again tonight…and after she wins you will have a nice bank and plenty of time for Reflections.

Danger: Downtown Zipper who is a strong dog and if it gets the right luck in running could find itself stalking our top pick and giving her a run for her money in the last fifty metres.

Next Best Bet – Zipping Novak (Race 4)

is from the very good x Zipping Meg litter that is showing plenty of ability around the tracks. Novak has an imposing record of twelve starts for seven wins and has scorched around here in 29.6 secs which would see him winning this race fairly easily. The biggest thing stopping this boy from winning a race or better class race at present is his lack of box manners. He is a moderate beginner but certainly has a motor on him when he goes through the gears and that remains the question tonight from box eight; can he get enough clear running early to engage that motor and run down the leaders? You will know your fate once they have passed the catching pen and if Novak is within four lengths of the lead and in clear running look out. He has a nice record here of four wins and a minor from six starts and we will hope the bookmakers take a bit of a risk on him tonight and we get a nice price on a very nice dog.

Danger: Box eight. If he gets room and clear running he wins however there will be seven dogs that have equal or better box manners that can all cause this boy some problem. Fingers crossed and hang on tight.

Best Each Way Bet – Jazzy Pack (Race 6)

Forget the form lines of the Mark Forner-trained . She was zippy early before getting blindsided here two starts back, and while the run looks horrible on paper it was not that bad considering what she copped going around the first turn. Now, having said that she has two runs here at headquarters and had a fall and been belted up at the other run. She has had no luck around here and hopefully she has taken no ill effects from those experiences. She looks the leader in this race, because other than the short priced favourite, there is no genuine pace in the race. If she can clear out from box two and establish herself a break away from the chasing hordes, there is no reason she can't go on and win the race or at worse run a place at very juicy odds indeed. She started at $23 at her previous run and may go around at similar odds tonight, but she will need to turn and burn early.
