Wentworth Park betting tips

Wednesday night is when it is all happening at Wentworth Park, with 10 races set down for decision and some quality canine athletes on show. There is a cracking free-for-all and a very good low-grade race, plus lots of fun fifth-grade races and a maiden to boot.

It is a night tinged with a touch of sadness as GRNSW and the say farewell to an industry legend in , whom everybody from the south-west of Sydney around the Austral area knew and loved. A passionate lady who did so much for greyhound racing and her beloved retired greyhounds and told you exactly what was what in no uncertain terms, she will be missed.

As always, we will try to find you a few winners, and good luck if you have a punt.

BEST BET: Reflections (Race 7)

's ultra-consistent bitch Reflections couldn't break through in the heats on Saturday night, running fifth, and will appreciate the class drop back to third and fourth grade. You know what you will get with this girl: good early pace and, hopefully, an early lead. There is only one dog that can go with her early in this race if she begins like she usually does, and that is Funky Girl. With the slow starter underneath her, she should be able to burn Funky Girl off in the run to the first turn and establish a handy lead. From there, buckle up for the ride as she is not super strong but does get a good 520m.

Danger: Zipping Demand will love being boxed down by the fence, provided he does get cluttered up early. He has been his own worst enemy with his box manners and may well have had a lot more than his 14 wins if he could just begin. He will get a lovely trail and if he is not inconvenienced, he is super strong and may get all the favours to swamp them late.

NEXT BEST: Tokyo Drift (Race 5)

Lynne Aldous puts the polish on this son of and Megladon. His only failure to date was at his debut here when he missed the kick a fraction and powered to the front, only to be galloped on approaching the home turn and then flattened by the eventual winner. His record of eight starts for six wins and a second is impeccable and his form at is first rate. He was given a bit of time off after that Wenty debut and has come back with two impressive wins again at Bulli. Box four will actually help this boy; if he can show his usual acceleration and get clear of the three dog early, he will enjoy being in the centre of the track. There is good speed in the race, so he can't afford to spin his wheels at the start, and if he can lead, he should be winning. He has been very short in the market at every start bar one but should be at decent value here considering the abundance of early speed in the race.

Danger: Pennies Forever. Anytime Peter Sims brings a lightly raced prospect to town with a record girl has, you know they are above average. Anyone remember a little girl called She's A Pearl? Pennies is five wins and five seconds from 10 races, all in the south of the state, but you just have to be so respectful of a Sims dog in town. She does possess good pace and could easily lead this field, and the leader probably wins this.

BEST VALUE: She's So Bright (Race 3)

It is only fitting that we have our each-way bet in the Vale Shirley Davidson race with She's So Bright. 's dogs have the distinct ability to improve lengths when they draw down near the fence, and while this girl hasn't shown all that much in her recent starts, she will improve courtesy of the draw and her freshness. The fact that she can be a moderate beginner might not hurt her as badly as it would have from the other side of the draw, as the red can begin and will run up the track. pushed her out to the 600m distance not long before giving her a spell with a couple of good performances, and after eight weeks off the scene she will be primed for a big first-up outing and well worth an each-way ticket at the big cheesy odds. It would be fitting for a roughie to salute in honour of Shirley.
