Wentworth Park tips and best bets

A nice 11-race card greets us for the midweek Wentworth Park meeting as the Million Dollar Chase draws closer. Three heats of the MDC Maiden series and three heats of the Masters Meteor series take centre stage tonight along with some good graded racing. As always, good luck with any and all of your investments.

Race 1: MDC Maiden Heat 1 Maiden Series 520m

Race 2: MDC Maiden Heat 2 Maiden Series 520m

The Grenfell/Wheeler association collar up two more in this heat. Orbital Bale is a litter brother to Natteo Bale in the first, so watch that race closely for a lead in. is impeccably bred and should be well up to this. Our Boy Duke's mum also produce a little dog called Feral Franky, so if this bloke is half as good, then Rob Tyler is in for a fun time. We Don't Share is a half-brother to Tiger Jack and Doonan and in the powerful Lord kennel, so expect him to be thereabouts as well. Loco Tonto for the Finns has been kept to the sprints but is from classy stayer Poco Dorado and will be screaming out for longer and longer as he matures and might just be the strong dog at the end of 520m.

Race 3: MDC Maiden Heat 3 Maiden Series 520m

collars up the final of the trio of the x Jayney Bale litter to go around tonight in Lovaz Bale. Watching how well the first few do might be a good guide. Under him is Cawbourne Bruce, who found plenty of trouble in his Wagga debut when sent out $1.60 favourite. Cooper's Hawk was gallant in defeat behind Mexican Bandit last week and is improving and running decent times, so must be considered. Let's All Chant is well bred and the litter is having some early success, so a forward showing would be no surprise. Orson Charli is another from a litter that is showing early.

Race 4: NSW GBOTA 5th Grade 520m

Zambora Charlie comes to the strong Lord kennel from the equally strong Victorian Thompson kennel and it will be interesting to see how he goes. Is only 2/9, but one of those was off box 8. You can be sure he will have been educated here and will get room when the no.7 crashes left. Fantastic Trixie showed what she is capable of with a good win here off box 1 last start but will need to get out and go so as to miss the no.7 if she is a chance of going back-to-back. Half A Blonde won here over the 270m so should have pace to burn early, but the last 100m will be the worry. Big Town Hero won well at two starts back and much prefers a low draw, which he gets tonight, and is 2/2 from this box, and My Name's Bernie had blinkers added (yes, that is correct) last start and won well at Gosford after a decent break. He will be better for that run and ran that race right out, so must be a chance.

Race 5: Ladbroke It! Free For All 520m

Aston Shine is up from Victoria and has been contesting Group races recently and has the scalp of Zara's Ivan at Sandown recently, so one would expect him to be competitive in this free-for-all race. has been going well in lower-grade races and did break 30 secs last time but just struggles to finish things off here. Miss Hyped Up is another that has been racing well in lower grades and faces a step up in class but is racing well. Zipping Pearson has been racing the best in the business recently, and whilst this is still a FFA, it is a drop in class on recent racing and he is another with a hope in an open race.

Race 6: Masters Meteor Heat 1 M1/M2/M3 520m

The first heat for the masters is next and it's impossible to go past Ritza Gloria. She has been slashing in her last two masters performances running 29.8 on both occasions, she loves box 1 (5-2-1) and will go mighty close. is the interesting runner from the strong Grenfell kennel. Won the Geelong last start against the youngsters, will be suited by the box draw and will be in this for a long way. Kooringa Lucy is probably the form masters dog of the moment. She won the Easter Masters series in slashing fashion and has gone 29.7 here as a master. Is awkwardly drawn in box 6 but is pure class. Zipping Brady ran B.O.N. at last week and is certainly no slouch, while Prim And Proper looked to be getting back to her best with her effort behind Ritza Gloria last week. A cracking start to the series.

Race 7: Masters Meteor Heat 2 M1/M2/M3 520m

The second heat sees return to his happy hunting ground. While Sunburnt Highway just couldn't match it with them in the Easter Masters series, he has been freshened up and will give his all again here. Rebecca Gay usually shows good pace and might be a chance to lead off the pink but would need to lift to win this. Ebby Infrared has a tonne of ability and has been a battle for trainer Michael Eberand to get fit and healthy for this, and if he is 100% will be a massive threat to this series. Gave Winlock On Top a start and a thrashing at Maitland recently, so is right in this. Keenando is another Victorian who has been racing the likes of Big Opal Rocks of late and will be having his first masters start and will be one to watch. The same can be said for Black Eye Jack, who has been freshened off a distance run to be ready for his first go at masters company and will be strong to the line.

Race 8: Masters Meteor Heat 3 M1/M2/M3 520m

was a good winner of a heat of the Easter Masters series before getting injured and taking a short break. Is back now and if Nathan Goodwin has her ready to go, she will be a big chance. Lots Of Chatter won his heat of that series in slashing time defeating Kooringa Lucy and then chased that same greyhound hard in the final. Went back home for a hit-out before heading back here to try this series and has good pace and will be right in this. Ritza Donald has been chasing good masters consistently of late. Devel Sixteen, who is up from Victoria, has just turned four and entered masters class and was in a heat of the Golden Easter Egg here earlier in the month, so definitely has above-average ability. Fire Legend has good country masters form but this is tough, and Diamantina Rose returns from a four-month break to race in master competition for the first time and has 45 placings on this track.

Race 9: MDC Semi Finals Friday 4th/5th Grade 520m

Smokey Cape's run here off box 1 last week was good enough to suggest he could go back-to-back here at H.Q. There is not a lot of pace in the race with the scratching of the no.8 and he might well just zip along the fence that he loves so much and set up a nice lead. Panda Mick up from Victoria will be an interesting watch as he has been mixing form but obviously has talent to be worthy of a trip north. Cartel Master can show more than he has recently here and is strong. Unidentified has good northern form and must be a chance in an open race.

Race 10: Gold Cup Heats Friday 5th Grade 520m

Canya Zeus showed good early dash at Goulburn last week before running wide on the home turn and being beaten nose. If he shows that pace, he will lead, but the dog that got him at Goulburn is in this field. Start Packing was the dog that beat Canya Zeus and he was strong to the line on Friday, has decent Wentworth Park form and is a threat in an open race, but he is awkwardly drawn in the 7. Alice Unchained has been a bit disappointing recently but has ability and is probably better off out here in the pink. No Fooling You might get a good run along the fence and is a minor hope and Ocular is a young dog that seems to have plenty of upside and might be the dog with the future in this race.

Race 11: www.wentworthpark.com.au 5th Grade 520m

The two recent maiden winners look to be the dogs to beat in the get-out stakes. Mexican Bandit was sent out very short in a five-dog maiden and while he didn't blister was impressive enough and will continue to improve. Could easily lead all the way again tonight. Romantic Style won his maiden here last week also and not in as good a time as the red and while will also improve for that run and win will get no favours from this draw. Choo Choo Train beat Romantic Style two weeks back and contested a tougher 5th Grade last week and is a definite threat. Of the rest General Cattana's second here was good but the Dapto run was disappointing, and Spread My Wings was first up from a break when tiring late and will be further improved from that effort and is not the worst.
