Very open race but I think the well drawn Cawbourne Cobra showed enough last week to suggest that she is going to win a race again very soon. After a steady beginning she showed a great turn of foot and applied pressure to Coolabah Jet for the entire trip. She went down narrowly last week in good time and with some luck early she can go one better.
Zipping Angel is the obvious danger and she is expected to start a short priced favourite. The only concern with her is that there is a heap of pace drawn directly on her outside and she will need a lot of luck in the first 50m. Winning Charm is expected to lead the event and she has been in good form of late. She is suspect in the final 50m but she should give a great sight in front. Diesel Train has the good draw and he should be able to settle in the first three, he isn’t overly strong but there are a number of runners in this event who struggle to run the trip.
Top Four: 8 – 5 – 4 – 1
Suggested Bets:
Win bets on Cawbourne Cobra and Diesel Drive
Boxed Quinella: 1,4,5,8 ($6 for 100%)
Exacta: 1,5,8/1,4,5,8 ($9 for 100%)
1st: $4,350 2nd: $1,235 3rd: $620.

Another very open affair but I think the consistent Big Girl Gerald can return to the winners list. Three starts ago she posted an impressive 30.07 victory here and she hasn’t experienced a lot of luck in her two subsequent runs. She is capable of going sub 5.50 to the first marker and that should allow her to settle in the top three as they head into the back straight. She appears to be getting stronger and stronger with every run and she should make an impact here.
Magic Dream is an explosive beginner and if he can reproduce his sizzling 29.84 victory here he will prove very hard to reel in. He can be a little hit or miss at box rise but he has performed well from middle pins previously. Le Burglar has lots of talent and he is the run on dog in the event. He has been solidly placed in his past three runs here and he only needs a clear run early to feature.
Top Four: 4 – 5 – 7 – 3
Suggested Bets:
Each Way on Big Girl Gerald
Boxed Quinella: 3,4,5,7 ($6 for 100%)
Exacta: 4,5,7/3,4,5,7 ($9 for 100%)
1st: $4,650 2nd: $1,350 3rd: $670.

Quality event but it appears to be a match race between Evil Punk and Clonakilty Man. I’m going to give the classy Evil Punk the edge based on his recent 29.46 Gosford win. Prior to that effort he appeared to be off his game and he was disappointing in a couple of runs, however his Gosford win has convinced me that he is back to his best and he loves racing at this venue.
Clonakilty Man returned from a six week break and smashed his rivals when scoring here in a blistering 29.66. He showed a ridiculous turn of foot soon after box rise and he maintained that high speed in the run to the line. The pink draw doesn’t really suit but if he can step away on terms it shouldn’t pose too many problems. Creepy Coupe is in rare form and he can be a factor if he can reproduce his 29.71 PB run here.
Top Four: 3 – 8 – 4 – 2
Suggested Bets:
Win bet on Evil Punk
Trifecta: 3/2,4,8/Field ($18 for 100%)
Trifecta: 3,4,8/3,4,8/2,3,4,5,6,8 ($24 for 100%)
1st: $4,650 2nd: $1,350 3rd: $670.

Kobi Jay hasn’t experienced a lot of luck in recent times but I think he is suitably drawn in the middle tonight. There is a heap of early speed drawn in the inside three boxes and that should allow him to find the rails very early and he should find himself very close to the lead off the back straight. He is very strong in the run to the line and he has been racing in much stronger company of late.
Satchmo’s Hanky appears to be the likely leader and he was an impressive 30.08 winner here last week. There is quite a bit of speed drawn around him so he will have to work a little harder initially but he is still good enough to hold on and make an impact. Knot Telling Ya could be the blowout value, he has been racing well without winning recently and he has the potential to ping the lids and run time on the bunny.
Top Four: 4 – 2 – 5 – 1
Suggested Bets:
Win bets on Kobi Jay and Knot Telling Ya
Boxed Quinella: 2,4,5 ($3 for 100%)
Trifecta: 2,4,5/2,4,5/Field ($36 for 100%)
1st: $5,450 2nd: $1,550 3rd: $775.

Chica Destacada hasn’t been racing with a lot of luck recently but from the gun draw she gets her chance to return to the winners list. She is normally a very reliable beginner and the last time she exited the red draw she went through the first marker here in 5.35 and stopped the clock in a scorching 29.51 overall, a repeat of that will see her post a comfortable victory.
Double Twist is a freak and she just continues to win open class races. Once again the box draw hasn’t done her a lot of favours but she does have a wide runner and slow beginner drawn directly outside and that should allow her to get a relatively clear run into the first turn. Unfortunately I’m anticipating that she will be giving Chica Destacada a fairly big head start and therefore the quinella spot looks likely for her. Take It All finally broke through again here last week and he is suitably drawn out wide again. He isn’t good enough to match it with the top two anymore but he can run home into the minor end of the money.
Top Four: 1 – 6 – 7 – 8
Suggested Bets:
Win bet on Chica Destacada
Trifecta: 1,6/1,6/7,8 ($4 for 100%)
Trifecta: 1,6/1,6/Field ($12 for 100%)
1st: $5,285 2nd: $1,485 3rd: $730.

Cosmic Rosie finally showed her true talent when scoring at Richmond in 42.05 last week and she should be able to continue on her winning way. Surprisingly last week she settled just off the speed and took over mid race, so that shows that she is getting stronger and stronger with every run. The middle pin is a disadvantage but she should have enough early toe to push through in the run to the first bend.
Painted Dotty is aiming for a hat trick of wins and she is drawn to be a major player. Two runs back she posted an impressive 42.43 win here and a similar run to that would see her push for another victory. My Asuncion has been placed in seven of her past eight and she is never far away in this type of company. She is yet to win here in 20 tries but she is just about a lock to run a drum.
Top Four: 5 – 1 – 3 – 4
Suggested Bets:
Exacta: 1,5/1,3,4,5 ($6 for 100%)
Boxed Quinella: 1,3,4,5 ($6 for 100%)
Trifecta: 1,5/1,3,4,5/1,3,4,5,6,8 ($24 for 100%)

Cyclone Simone is back to her brilliant best and she should be able to lead throughout tonight. After an unsuccessful WA campaign, she has regained some confidence with three brilliant 600m wins. She isn’t the strongest of stayers but there isn’t a whole lot of early speed in this event and that should allow her to set up a monster lead mid race. She has posted a 42.62 win here previously but I think she can get down to around the 42.30 these days.
Eleazar has been racing in great heart in QLD of late and she is perfectly placed in the pink box. She recently won a heat of the Gold Cup and on the occasion she hit the line very hard. She will get back early but if she doesn’t find too much trouble she should be fighting out the finish. Yellow Fever was far from disgraced when placed here last week and he should run a cheeky race again. I don’t think he is good enough to win but he can run home into the minor money.
Top Four: 2 – 8 – 6 – 4
Suggested Bets:
Trifecta: 2,8/2,8/Field ($10 for 100%)
Trifecta: 2,8/2,4,6,8/2,4,6,8 ($12 for 100%)
Quinella: 2,8

Quality final with numerous winning chances but I think the Jason Mackay trained Zipping Summah is drawn to get the cash. She has raced well from wide draws in recent times and her 5.36 to the first marker last week would see her lead this field quite easily. Her overall time in her heat was a little disappointing but she does have a blistering 29.64 PB here. It was her first try over 500m for a while last week so she will also be much better for the run.
Bessy Boo hit the line strongly when scoring a smart 29.86 heat win and in the process he reeled in the highly promising Miss Sueko. The red draw will be a big advantage and that should allow him to settle much closer to the speed than he normally would. Gradence is a powerful sprinter and he will be steaming home late, he rarely wins these days but he is a great dog to anchor for third and fourth in your exotics.
Top Four: 8 – 1 – 6 – 4
Suggested Bets:
Win bet on Zipping Summah
Trifecta: 1,8/1,4,6,8/1,3,4,6,8 ($18 for 100%)
Exacta: 1,8/1,4,6,8 ($6 for 100%)
Quinella: 8 to rove with 1,4,6 ($3 for 100%)
1st: $4,350 2nd: $1,235 3rd: $620.

My Awesome Opal has been a little disappointing of late but tonight he has his favourite draw and he should return to the winners list. In his recent races he has been getting crowded soon after box rise and he has had to work overtime to get into a prominent position early. From the pink he should be able to carve across to the early lead and he should zip away off the back straight. His last 40m is always a concern but there aren’t a lot of strong runners in this event.
Freddy Diesel is one of the stronger runners in the event and if he can get some luck as they head into the first bend he should be fighting out the finish. He has a slick 29.89 PB over this trip but under the right conditions he is capable of going a little bit quicker. Lani Banarni resumed from a spell with a handy 29.92 Dapto win and she is armed with explosive early speed. I don’t think she can match the pink mid race but if My Awesome Opal does some things wrong early she will be there to capitalise.
Top Four: 8 – 4 – 7 – 1
Suggested Bets:
Win bet on My Awesome Opal and Freddy Diesel
Trifecta: 4,7,8/4,7,8/1,2,4,5,7,8 ($24 for 100%)
Boxed Quinella: 4,7,8 ($3 for 100%)
1st: $4,350 2nd: $1,235 3rd: $620.

Quality race to finish the night and it appears to be a race in two between I’m Pedro and Being Good. They are very hard to split but I think the early pace of I’m Pedro will be a big factor in the result. Three starts ago he led from go to whoa when scoring a sizzling 29.77 win here and a repeat of that effort will see him score again. Obviously he would need to lead to win but there isn’t a lot of speed in this race and he should get a very cheap lead.
Being Good has scored some dazzling 600m wins of late and in those victories she has showed a lot more early speed than normal. Back to the 500m trip I don’t think she will settle as close to the speed but with a clear run she is capable of running the hands off the clock. Outside the top two, Calamity Trigger is the only runner really capable of causing an upset. In May he appeared to be struggling but he had six weeks off and last week he returned to racing with a brilliant 22.57 Bulli win. He is very hit or miss early but if he gets away on terms he may give the two favourites something to think about.
Top Four: 4 – 6 – 7 – 3
Suggested Bets:
Win bet on I’m Pedro
Trifecta: 4,6/4,6/Field ($12 for 100%)
Trifecta: 4,6/4,6,7/2,3,4,6,7,8 ($24 for 100%)
