Wentworth Park preview, best bets & quaddie | Wednesday, March 8

Wentworth Park racing tips

It's another wonderful Wednesday night of greyhound action at with a quality 10-race program set down for decision. A nice maiden, a quality free-for-all and some very competitive fifth-grade races highlight the card. As the looms large on the horizon at the end of the month, we are starting to see the re-emergence of some very talented greyhounds and some special interstate visitors. There are lots of winners to be found this week and hopefully we can steer you towards a few of them.

Best Bet: Simply Limelight (Race 8)

has this boy back to his scintillating best and eyeing a shot at the Easter Egg in a couple of weeks. He is a multiple Group-race finalist without having been able to snare one of them yet. His last three runs here have been simply breathtaking, giving some good dogs a head start and a trouncing. He will always need a touch of luck in his races, as he is not the best beginner; however, he is the strongest dog in the race and will be finishing all over them late. , and all have good early pace and their battle up front will be key for to descend upon them down the back straight. Simply Limelight has consistently run 29.7 seconds of late, and if he can run that again, he should be saluting in this free-for-all.

Danger: Wyndra All Class
She had no luck at all in the final of the recent Oaks, getting held off the rails and checked at a crucial stage. She would be better drawn the other side of the track. However, she does have two wins from two attempts for box seven and 10 wins from 19 starts on this track and is a classy greyhound.

Best Each Way: Taken Prince (Race 2)

We have often said how hard it is for greyhounds to win their first fifth-grade race after winning their maiden, and so it was for this fellow. He was the beneficiary of some luck to break his maiden in average time. The fact he blew the start next time out didn't help matters; however, he tried hard and still probably runs second and maybe even wins the race if he doesn't get checked when going for an inside run approaching the home turn. While he would be better drawn down on the fence, he is adaptable. He is improving with every run and should be at peak fitness for this.

Best Roughie: Khaleesi's Jewel (Race 10)

This striking all-white girl was scratched the last time she was due to race here. She is well placed in this battlers' race after taking on Massimo To Excel in her last outing. She does possess good early speed, but will need to if she is to cross this field and establish a race-winning break. It is always difficult to find the winners in the battlers' race, but there will be value aplenty in this one. If this girl can land on the bunny, she just may give you a massive sight at massive odds.
