Wentworth Park tips and best bets

We hope you all had a safe and happy Easter and that the Easter bunny managed to leave you a few presents. The greyhound racing continues at Wentworth Park with a nice 11-race program to swing us into Million Dollar Chase mode. Let's find you some winners for Wednesday's meeting.

Race 1: NSW GBOTA Welcome Maiden Grade 520m

With a few already declared this has become a five-dog field at time of writing, and it now looks set up for Mick Hardman to take out with Spring Polar. He ran second to Choo Choo Train last week off this same box when moderately away and further improvement will see him win this. Romantic Style is the other winning hope and ran third in that same race last week. Showed good pace but will have a hard time holding out the red. Zipping Randy has been consistent over the shorter journeys down south and will be having his first look at HQ, and Without Power may improve in only start number three.

Race 2 Ladbroke It! Maiden 520m

Mexican Bandit has been a bandit for those that have been on him lately. Sent out short in his last two and has been a touch disappointing but gets a fairly average race here and should really open his account. He went back to Goulburn for a freshen up for this and will be the one to beat. Without Glory was honest in the Choo Choo Train race last week but was beaten a long way. Cooper's Hawk is well bred and has only had the one start where he did a lot wrong and found trouble but kept closing. He will be improved and if he begins is a real threat and might be the unknown knockout dog.

Race 3: MDC City Qualifiers Saturday 5th Grade 520m

Lochinvar Lona has had an impressive start to his career with six wins and a few placings from 12 starts but has put it all together recently, winning three in a row before running Castle Warrior to a neck in a Listed final. Drops back to a 5th Grade and will win this but will be short. Ocular has ability but would need to better his PB by nearly a second to go close to the checks. Redhead Rider also has ability and could cause the favourite a few early problems. Plodder off the inside might get a good trail and run a place. While Tara Swift and That's My Guy deserve their chance in town, but this is a stiff ask.

Race 4: Sponsor A Race @ WP 5th Grade 520m

Turbo Cash tried hard here last week when he didn't begin well and pushed up, found a bit of trouble and tried hard behind Club Model, who has gone on to win again since. With a better box he needs to get out and he can win this, but the major drawback is all the pace in this race is immediately outside him in boxes 2 and 3. If he dwells again, he will get cluttered up early. Lepidoptera is always in these races with his early pace but will need to lead and is not strong over 500m. Our Amelia is the other big threat; she has been sent out short all three goes here and has been good before her last start. She has been given a bit of a break and should be primed for a big run from her. Shady's Rocket has been good over the sprints and has stepped up to 500m in his last two at Gosford with good results and is one to watch. Lucky Fernando has ability, but we haven't seen his best at Wenty Park.

Race 5: Ladbrokes Easy Form 5th Grade 520m

Good Odds Emma has been taking on Group 3 company recently and will appreciate the massive class drop back into a 5th Grade tonight. She has a handy box 1 record and will give these something to chase. has been ultra-consistent, placing in his last nine starts and in 15 of his 17 career starts. Denise Warren is an astute trainer and she doesn't bring them to town without them having a winning chance, but he is not the greatest of beginners, which is a worry here at HQ. Serengeti put away a handy field last start and can show some genuine toe early. Is 2/2 from box 5 and is a threat in this good race. Zipping Rubble is yet to miss a place in his 10 career starts and will surely be in the market again tonight. He handles the wide draws and is 2/2 from the pink but is another that can just dwell at the beginning. Has a fair motor inside; will just need a touch of luck.

Race 6: @wentworthparkgreyhounds 5th Grade 520m

Tiger Jack returns to Wenty from a middle-distance campaign and, if the sprint hasn't been taken from his legs, will win this race. He has a huge motor but can be moderately away and can find trouble, but his last sections are amazing and he'll win if he is anywhere near them down the back. Bless Shoe was good after finding a bit of trouble and can certainly give the fav something to chase. Impress Bromell deserves another shot in town after a BON performance at and handles the wide draws and is usually a reliable beginner who could put himself into this early. Two Pars steps up to 500m for the first time but has shown good pace in sprint races, so could easily lead this field, but you wouldn't want Tiger Jack within five lengths of him heading past the 700m boxes in his first go at 520m.

Race 7: wentworthpark.com.au Non Graded 720m

The stayers are next up and it looks an open affair. Sailing Home was enormous in the last 50m last week to get up and win. She has won over the middle distances and 720m looks ideal; she might even find the front early from box 1. Paris And Rome just couldn't hold the front from box 1 last week and as a result got squeezed out of the race. Might have more luck leading in this race and is a big hope if she leads. Monkey Boom has been racing like 720m will be his go, and Cawbourne Turvey has a handy PB here; a repeat of that sort of form would see him very competitive. Ziggy Stardust has been racing well recently over the sprints but has handy form over the trip here and must be a minor chance.

Race 8: MDC Final May 7 Free For All 520m

Well what can you say about She's A Pearl? She has only been beaten once in her last 16 appearances and has the coveted in her kennel. With a vacant box on both sides, she will lead this for fun and will be an interesting clock watch to see how fast she goes. Good Odds Cash chased her all the way in the Egg final and is always a hope of causing a boilover – another ultra-consistent chaser. Red Hot Mouse and have been good of late but meet a champion here and are minor chances, but it is hard to see them stopping the run for She's A Pearl.

Race 9: Ladbrokes Cash In 5th Grade 520m

Choo Choo Train broke his maiden here last week and there is no reason he can't go right on with it. This is not an overly strong race and he might get a or two from out wide and continue on his winning ways. Especially Rare broke his maiden here in 30.39, and a repeat of that time and effort may see him winning again. Miss Free Reign is another that won her maiden in 30.30, and she is a hope if she can jump and lead. is the interesting runner and is in the very strong kennels. She has gone out at prohibitive odds her first two starts and will no doubt be supported again tonight. She is awkwardly drawn but has moderate beginners around her, so must be given a huge chance.

Race 10: #getyourgreyhoundon 4th/5th Grade 520m

Chasing Fernando was caught in the very last stride last week, and while the time wasn't flash, the effort was. With a slightly better get-away, he could be hard to beat from the inside box. will appreciate the drop back from the Group 3 Ambrosoli to a 4th/5th Grade event and is the class runner and the one to beat. Key Bob has been good of late and will appreciate he vacant box under him and will be a chance of leading. Powder Finger has been a bit disappointing of late, but the Lords are working hard on it and it would be no surprise to see him improve sharply. Murray's Way tries her heart out every time she goes around but would need a PB here.

Race 11: Ladbrokes Switch Masters M1/M2/M3 520m

The old-timers get to stay up late tonight and bring us home in the last and Matt Gatt dominates this race with Ritza Gloria. She made a mess of them in her masters on Saturday night, and there is no reason she won't do the same here tonight. Her sectionals were good and the time was outstanding. Kennel-mate Ritza Donald was the one doing the chasing on Saturday night and might find himself doing the same tonight. Artic Kingdom gets box 1 again but would need to improve to turn the tables, while has the ability to match it with the favourite but would need Dave Smith to have her back to her best.
