Wentworth Park racing tips & value bets | Saturday, December 17

Wentworth Park preview

This Saturday night at is going to be a cracker, with every race worth at least $10,000. There are 11 races set down for decision. There is the 3 final and the Christmas Cup for the stayers, which is worthy of a Group final. There are finals of the bitches' and dogs' races plus many more. As always, we will try to find you a few winners, and good luck if you have a bet.

BEST BET: Rockstar Lopez (Race 5)

This daughter of and Diamond Ruby just couldn't get the job done last week when she got posted outside surprise leader Neptune Banner; no matter how hard she tried, she just couldn't run over the top of that dog. With the box draw switch around and the fact that Neptune Banner isn't the most consistent beginner on the planet, she can certainly turn the tables and lead tonight — and if she leads, she will win. She has a good outside box record and has three wins from four attempts from box seven. She will be improved again for the run here, and if she can show the same speed as early last week, she'll be right in the firing line.

Danger: Most Wanted is drawn to get the nice run along the inside rail. His box one form is great with three wins and four seconds from eight attempts. He will probably not be able to lead this speed heavy field, but he will sit right behind them and perhaps find them wanting late.

Best Bet

Form: 231112 | Career: 15: 5-4-2 | Trainer: Christopher Nutt

$4.80 with Neds

NEXT BEST BET: Jabeni (Race 4)

It is only fitting in start number 100 that Jabeni is a best bet. This greyhound marvel just keeps producing the goods and there is no reason he won't go on with it again tonight. He faces his stiffest test in a race for some time, and while he would prefer to be drawn closer to the fence, he just knows how to run good time, having broken the 30-second mark here on numerous occasions. In his 28 previous Wenty starts he has nine wins and 11 placings, and he might be just the dog to send us home with our pockets lined and ready for Christmas week.

Danger: has only just become eligible for the Masters events and has had a kennel change from in Victoria to in Sydney. He has been doing his best over a longer trip, but after a freshen up for the change of kennel he may well be ready to fire first-up.

BEST VALUE: That's My Guy (Race 2)

will rug up this boy who won't be given much of a hope in this race. However, don't underestimate this son of Moreira and Sunburnt Opal as he and his littermates have earnt over $100,000 already. His run at last week was exceptional and was only 1/100th of a second slower than the Megastar winner Good Odds Emma. If he can replicate that effort, he will certainly be in this race.
