Wentworth Park tips for Golden Easter Egg semi finals 2/4/2022

A very important 10 race card tonight with the 4 Semi Finals of the Golden Easter Egg and a couple of heats of the time honoured Association Cup for the stayers. The best greyhounds in the country are assembling at Wentworth Park and you wouldn’t want to be anywhere else this Saturday night. As always good luck with your investments and I hope we find you a few winners in our Wentworth Park tips.

Race 1 NSW GBOTA Welcome 5th Grade (520m)

Lady Luck Ethics for David Smith draws the right box in a very open 5th grade. Has been placed 7 of her 9 career starts and has only been drawn inside of box 4 once for a win. May not find an easier 5th grade here at H.Q. Big Town Romeo has shown some good zip on his home track but is yet to show his full ability at Wentworth Park. Papa Joe is a youngster that might have some more upside than some of these. The 2 Hawke dogs Jenny and Penny for Greg Hore have been mixing distances lately but are sure to be strong and this isn’t a tough race and might be each way hopes.

Race 2 Ladbroke It! 4/5th Grade 520m

Esther’s Thrill couldn’t muster enough to hold out Springview Hawk here last start off box 2 but did use that box well to rail the whole way around and finished well enough to grab second. Will likely get the gun trial again tonight and may well be right in the finish. She did show pace here Wednesday night when run down by Zipping Sapporo and deserves a change of luck. Fascinate Mel is racing with great heart at present and put away a decent field here Wednesday night, in good time on a wet track and looks the leader in this race. Black Flipper for astute veteran trainer Dennis Berwick comes to town with some decent northern form and while box 6 isn’t ideal the vacant box under him will help. Dylan’s Magic isn’t going nearly as well as he was six months ago but underestimate the Finn kennel at your own peril.

Race 3 Wests Group Association Cup Heat 1 Association Cup Non Graded 720m

What a start to the Association Cup. We have possibly the best two stayers in the country matching motors in Mepunga Ruby and Zipping Kansas. Mepunga Ruby won the Fanta Bale group 1 in Victoria and then narrowly missed in the group 1 Galaxy in Perth. Zipping Kansas has taken the staying world in his stride recently smashing the Bulli 590m record has only had one go here and smashed the clock running 41.57. Then there’s the forgotten dog Stanley Road, who is a champion stayer but has been chasing some superstars recently, and Lucky Dice who still could be anything and is only having career start number 12 but he needs luck but and faces a tough ask.

Race 4 Wests Group Association Cup Heat 2 Association Cup Non Graded 720m

Super Estrella, paying around the $2.10 quote with greyhound bookmakers, for David Smith loves this track and distance and has a sub 42 sec P.B. With box 5 vacant he will get room early and may well lead this from box rise to wash bay. Gypsy Wyong is no slouch however and has won a couple of group ones herself and they don’t fall into your lap. She is from the strong Dailly kennel and is one definite threat. Hank The Hustler can show zip on his night and is from the strong Britton kennel and has beaten Stanley Road here in the Summer plate series. He would need his very best. Nimble Lulu is exceptionally strong but I’m not sure she will want to be giving any of the favoured runners a start tonight.

Race 5 Ladbrokes Golden Easter Egg Semi Final 1 Non Graded 520m

1 Zara’s Ivan missed the kick when 3rd in the heats behind Fantastic Raven and has only had box 1 once and won from it but would need to improve on his heat run times.
2 Hold Me Up did his connections proud beginning well and giving nothing else a chance, led a quick dog and now steps up in class again but again will have a punchers chance with his early toe.
3 Idolize is flying for Peter Presutto. He pinged the lids and ran amazing sectionals before getting a touch tired late but when you’re sizzling in front you can. Is now 3/3 here and 2/2 from box 3 and should be the favourite.
4 Lala Kiwi is the current Australian Cup champ who got no room early in the heats and may actually be better drawn alongside Idolize. May get a dream cart in to the race and be able to show her true ability and is an absolute threat to the favourite
5 Zippy Tesla is the second of the Andrea Dailly dogs and his box manners are the reason he is not a multiple group winning dog at this time. He has a tonne of talent and won the Silver Chief in Vic. but will need a touch of luck from this awkward draw.
6 Fergie Pepper for Aaron Williams chased Mitchell Street all the way in his heat from this same box but raises to another level and will need his very best to progress to the final.
7 Wicked Flash for Peter Ray chased Tachycardic in the heats and is horribly drawn here, Will need every ounce of his nous and local knowledge to navigate a path to the final.
8 Analysing for Michael Hardman has done everything asked of her of late but even that might not be enough. One thing is for sure she will begin like a shot out of a gun and give herself every possible chance and if she can carve across and stack them up she is good enough to hold them off.

Race 6 Ladbrokes Golden Easter Egg Semi Final 2 Non Graded 520m

1 Handsome Rhino for Paul Galea was impressive on his Wenty debut doing everything right from an awkward draw and clocking time. This is a step up but if he improves after his first go here may well be good value and a definite hope.
2 Louis Rumble for Stephen Kavanagh is another that showed tremendous dash and ran a good time but I am not sure if he can cross the red but if he does there is no reason he won’t lead all the way.
3 Sally’s Reward for Vince Spiteri tried her heart out in the heats and deserved her spot here. Just couldn’t match motors with the quick Hold Me Up but never gave an inch. She would need her best buy is a reliable beginner.
4 Decimate for Jason Thomson could match it early with Sally’s Reward and Hold Me Up but did finish things off well late. Will be giving them a start and will need room and luck to go through to next week
5 Weblec Jet for Jeff Britton likewise was moderately away before working home really well behind Analysing. Not sure where he will possie up in this but can’t afford to be giving the outside brigade any sort of start at all tonight
6 Daph’s Ascend for Andrea Dailly was another that just dwelt at box rise and did well to navigate her way through the heats will derive benefit from that and can begin brilliantly on her night. The Dailly kennel will be hoping that night is tonight.
7 Zipping Kyrgios for the Finns squeaked through to the semifinals but you have to be in it to win it. Just couldn’t muster pace early after a stunning middle distance campaign but will be better with that sprint back under his belt. Underestimate this champion at your own peril.
8 Good Odd Cash for The Hursts did all she could chasing the in-form greyhound in the land at present She’s A Pearl and still clocked 29.6 herself. She is a very reliable beginner who will get room to move outside the 7 and may just SWOOSH down the outside to the lead at the first turn.

Race 7 Ladbrokes Golden Easter Egg Semi Final 3 Non Graded 520m

1 Fantastic Raven for Jason Mackay couldn’t have been more impressive from the awkward draw in the heats began well and ran them ragged. Likes the inside and should get good early room with WOW outside him and is another that will benefit from the sprint hit out last week.
2 Wow for Danielle Matic is a champion with a 29.38P.B here and whilst he hasn’t been beginning at his brilliant best he may well hold the fence behind Fantastic Raven and be 2nd or 3rd through the pen which will give him every chance to go through to the final
3 Our Mechanic for Jason Mackay was 3rd behind She’s A Pearl and will every ounce of Jason Mackay magic to find his way through to the final.
4 Chase Me Honey for Michael Hardman is another genuine chance here. Her heat run was chequered and she is capable of so much better, she didn’t begin like she can and may well be up there at the pointy end in the battle for the first turn.
5 Artic Kingdom for Owen Langley has been superb recently here at H.Q but will need to lower his P.B if he is going to worry this hot field.
6 Equaliser for Jason Thompson got the dream run through behind Artic Thunder last week and am not sure he can begin like that again tonight from this box with finding trouble. Will need luck from out here.
7 Mitchell Street for Jedda Cutlack surprised a few people with his early pace and quality run in the heats although there is better pace in this race and I am not sure if 30.20 will get it done in this but is sure to improved with a race on the track and no reason he can’t surprise again tonight
8 Boston Garden for Jeff Britton is a quality greyhound that will show pace from out wide but will have his work cut out getting across this field and that may be his story in this race and is another that will need luck from an ordinary draw.

Race 8 Ladbrokes Golden Easter Egg Semi Final 4 Non Graded 520m

1 Tachycardic for Kayla-Jane Coleman surprised many with his early pace in his heat. He was always the strong dog and once he led it was all over. He may get a nice run behind the favourite and could sneak through to the final.
2 She’s A Pearl for the Lords. Is simply blistering of late has won 8 in a row and no reason with the sectionals she runs why she won’t be making it 9 tonight. She is the best sprinter in NSW at present.
3 Ties That Bind for Frank Hurst never got any room or luck in the heats and is the other “lucky Loser” to sneak through and will need to begin and follow the favourite to the fence if she want to progress
4 Zipping Pearson for the Finns hasn’t shown any real dash from the boxes of late and that could well spell trouble in this race. Is badly drawn with pace all around and will need the Finn polish to sneak through.
5 Indy Matilda for Andrea Dailly didn’t show enough off box 1 to think that she will overcome box 5 with ease tonight .Is 0/3 here at the moment and a win would be a surprise
6 Romantic Storm for George Borg began moderately last week and got a nice run through at the first turn. Not sure he will be given those sorts of breaks tonight from this horror box but there is always 1 Easter miracle in this race will it be this boy this year?
7 Redeem Our Cash for Allen Ivers has been in superb form but uncharacteristically missed the kick last week and did a big job of just getting through to the semis. Will need to be her very best box behaviour to be in the firing line early and then will need to show plenty at the business end too.
8 Coast Model for the Lords has tremendous early toe on her night and had to chase hard when 2nd to Equalize in good time. Has the ability but it’s a tough draw out here to get across a quality field but I do have a soft spot for her.

Race 9 Nick Ostrovsky 29th Birthday 5th Grade 520m

Another very open 5th grade race where no runner has won here at the track. Calamity Ethics was building a nice record over the sprint distances before falling at Nowra on Monday night and if she is ok she will be a big chance of leading this field. Cruise or Lose has been facing better fields than this and has a decent record off the inside. Electric Dreams usually shows pace in her races and may well find the front and Star Glitter won a good race at Bulli recently, but this is tougher.

Race 10 It’s Going to Be Glorious Apr 9 5th Grade 520m

Mirepoix used his wide box and early pace to win at Bulli mid-week and with the vacant box under him if he begins like he did there he will probably lead this race and be very hard to beat. Shinya has a good record from box three and has shown some ability since heading south from QLD. Striking is the only dog in the race to have won here. Is stepping up from masters class but if he runs to his best that might be good enough in this open race. Plodder handles wides draws and must be an each way hope.
