AGRA's Run of the Month for January 2011 has been awarded to up and coming distance star Victorian Bobby Boucheau, after he smashed the 595 Sandown Park record winning by 19 and a quarter lengths in an astounding 33.67 on January 6th.
The amazing performance marked the steady improvement made by the Bombastic Shiraz chaser he had won a non-penalty 595 at Sandown on November 14 last year recording a best of the day 34.46.
Then showed his class in the Sale Cup series winning a lead up race over the 650 in 37.13 and then ran down Seek And Destroy in his heat of the Cup. He finished a gallant third in the final and a number of observers noted a top class stayer in the making for 2011.
In his record breaking performance were he jumped to the lead and was never headed, the second dog was West Australian stayer Pillow Torque. She was to come out a couple of weeks later on January 20 and break the 715 metre record at Sandown in a brilliant run of 41.64, just missing out on the run of the month.
Since his record breaking effort at Sandown Bobby Boucheau debuted over the 715 at Cannington last Saturday night, he again defeated Seek And Destroy by 10 lengths in an equal best of the night 41.54.
Bobby Boucheau is raced and trained by Angela Jackson at Pearcedale in Victoria. He is a Black Dog whelped May 2008 by Bombastic Shiraz from Dallas Gipsy (E J's Douglas x Advert) Bobby Boucheau has raced 15 times for nine wins and three placings and his overall stake earnings stand at $31,630.
As usual we had some outstanding runs recorded in January but “Bobby” got the nod for his outstanding performance in not only destroying a city track record, but the manner in which he did it.
AGRA congratulates owner-trainer Angela Jackson and Bobby Boucheau on being judged the AGRA Run of the Month for January 2011. He is the first winner for 2011 and he has certainly set a high standard for the rest of the year.
