Brisbane Property High Flyer Joins Brisbane Committee

Prominent property businessman has joined the committee after the election went down to the wire in its Annual General Meeting last night.

Mr Cartwright, who is also major sponsor of the Brisbane Club's One with his successful property company, , won the election after a re-vote due to the first count coming to a tie with existing board member Darryl Heck.

The Brisbane Club's constitution causes three committeemen to retire for re-election each year with existing members eligible to stand for election.

It was the first time Mr Cartwright stood for a position on the committee.

Mr Cartwright said he was very excited to take a more active role in the Club and was looking forward to bringing another perspective to the Brisbane Club.

“The greyhound racing industry has huge potential, and as a sponsor and owner of greyhounds, I am really looking forward to sinking my teeth into the new role,” said Mr Cartwright.

“I have been involved with the Brisbane Club for quite some time now and I would regard it as the most forward thinking Club in Queensland, so it's great to join the team and offer a new perspective from my experience in business and the racing industry.”

Cartwright Property Group has offices in Graceville and Coorparoo and is looking to expand into Brisbane's South East.

Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club general manager said he was excited to have Mr Cartwright on the committee due to his business savvy.

“Dale is very experienced in business, and is also a greyhound man, so it will be a huge boost for the Brisbane Club,” said Mr Gatehouse.

“Darryl Heck (the retiring committeeman) has done a great job on the committee and his input will surely be missed.”

Mr Gatehouse said the Brisbane Club had enjoyed a successful past year, despite the Global Financial Crisis.

“We have faired extremely well over the past twelve months, and now we are looking forward to have an even more successful year to come.”

The Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club races three times per week, Monday and Thursday nights and Wednesday afternoons. Thursday nights are its premier race meeting.

The Club has expanded its racing facilities recently, including taking over management of the Greyhound Racing Club, which is a meeting on a Saturday afternoon in Redland City.
