Capalaba Picks Up 8 New Sponsors In 24 Hours

Support for the Greyhound Racing Club has rallied with the signing of eight new sponsors after the announcement of a new management structure

The Capalaba Club yesterday signed a deal with the metropolitan that sees the Brisbane Club takeover the management and business development of the Redland City-based Capalaba track.

Six new sponsors have got behind the Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club's appointment including Cartwright Property , Brandons Electrical, Big Dog Racing Supplements, Redcliffe Oxley Meats, Eagle Boys Pizza at Victoria Point, Bogie Lodge Breeding Kennels, Perfect Option Design and Print as well as greyhound enthusiasts Chris and Sonya Andrews.

The Club has also secured seven services to a variety of top stud dogs to boost race prize purse value including Group One winners , and Trewly Special.

Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club general manager said the Club was very excited to get the ball rolling.

“Since the announcement was made our team have been calling a slew of contacts in the industry and the response has been fantastic,” said Mr Gatehouse.

“As a race venue the Capalaba Club needs quite a lot of financial assistance to help subsidise operations and these sponsorships will ensure the future of straight track racing in Queensland.”

The Capalaba Greyhound Racing Club is Queensland's only straight track and races every Saturday afternoon and on day.

The change in management came after Capalaba Club secretary Bob Patching announced he would be retiring in September.

Mr Gatehouse said the Capalaba Club would be benefiting from the -based Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club's separate racing and marketing divisions.

“We are very fortunate to be the only greyhound racing Club in Queensland with individual racing and marketing and business development departments, and this ensures a very efficient operation,” said Mr Gatehouse.

“The focus will now be developing a strong business model and marketing plan so that we can transform the Club into one of Redland City's number one entertainment options.”

The Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club has just completed its record-breaking Winter Carnival, which experienced TOTE turnover increases of near 30 per cent over the nine-week event.

The Brisbane Club will be transitioning into sole management of the Capalaba Club by this September.
