Lang Lang Coursing Picnic Meeting Hailed A Huge Success

123 dogs, were nominated for this a picnic meeting. Rather than our usual 8 dogs in an event or stake the events were with 4 greyhounds thus they only ran twice.

A win in the first round, gained a start in the final. A local company Hypro Australia were there in force and they put up 10 bags of kibble for winner prizes. Larmax Trading another local company also put up another 10 bags of kibble.

Dogs were grouped into aged groups for the younger puppies, so that we had ages as well as the dogs and bitches. All in all is was a great day out.

Many trainers are now starting to prepare their puppies for a tilt at the feature and or class events of the Sylvester Doyle and the Derby & Oaks meetings. This was on way we could have other meetings to ensure our greyhounds were prepared for the two day meetings.

The weather was perfect and there were many trainers there with their young families in attendance. This is hopefully our next generation of greyhound folk.

With 31 events it was a long day but well worth. It's been a while since a picnic meeting was conducted at and with it being such a success I am sure Lang Lang and the will try and conduct more.

It was also pleasing to see many new faces, and one can only hope that they have some success early in the side of the industry.

The volunteers worked very hard and to say the day was full one is an understatement but certainly worth the effort. There were many young greyhounds heading off to slips and they were like young kids, tails wagging, out for the day. They too were caught up in the excitement of the day.
