Oaks Prelude To Hurley & Derby Prelude To Kelly At SA Coursing

In ideal conditions, the Oaks and Derby Preludes were held with the Oaks being a Hurley/Kelly hit out with Pandora Kist taking the honours over Baby Bad Girl for Robyn Mackellar. The Derby was Todd Kelly’s turn with Uncle Krang defeating Carlos Kist for the Hurleys.

‘s Izzy Mai took out the Novice when defeating Give Me Lip; however Ray Barkla’s Datz Gotem (best 14.95) showed his liking for Virginia when winning the Free for All over Don Turner’s Just Chases. SA’s hope rests with Datz Gotem to help us retain the Waterloo over the anticipated Victorian influx.

Son of Colmar won for when defeating Brendan Gottschutzke’s GrapePicker and Simon Gesler had his first coursing winner when Follow My Dad defeated Paul Turner’s Watusi Lady.

Paul Turner’s Fantasy Mist then defeated Karon Blakemore’s Tina’s Justice in a Maiden stake and returned to the winner’s circle when Albernator defeated Karon Blakemore’s Pristine Justice.

Our final event will be held on Sunday 2 September with the running of the 2012 Waterloo, 2012 Oaks and 2012 Derby. All these events are for best 16 with the proviso that dogs must have coursed twice prior to nominating. Victorian entries will also had to have coursed but this can be completed in Victoria.

Prizemoney for the Waterloo will be $2000 winner, $500 runner up, $80 equal thirds – a Consolation for those dogs run out in the first course will be conducted with $300 winner, $100 runner up and $40 equal thirds. Prizemoney for both the Oaks and Derby will be $1000 winner, $350 runner up, $50 equal thirds.

Nomination fees will be $20 for the Waterloo and $10 for the Oaks/Derby. A decision with respect to supporting events will be made at the close of nominations (it all depends on numbers) which is 9.00 am Wednesday 29 August.
