Typhoon Harry Snares Victorian Derby
A great weekend of coursing was conducted at Longwood over the weekend. To the hardworking committee and volunteers, a job well done.
To Col Brett the most colourful broadcaster at coursing meetings, your most interesting observations are greatly appreciated.
To Gary Brett an exceptional job over the two days with excellent slipping.
Some exciting courses were conducted with a few suprises.
To Greg Clark, a job well done with Typhoon Harry successfully beating Rapid Fusion who was having his first start at a coursing meeting for his connections in the Victorian Derby.
The Victorian Oaks taken out by the Pauline Patterson trained Just Eileen who was also having her first coursing start defeating Khalia.
The Bert Clark Memorial taken out by Pandanus trained by Gary Brett performed at his best.
It was great to see Julie Stefanos able to attend the meeting for a couple of hours, considering her recent health problems and only very recently being released from hospital.
Bert Clark was Julie’s father and they were responsible for the Longwood Coursing Club to continue after being run down for some years. The track today was outstanding and congratulations to all concerned.
The Fothergill Family had a great win with Billabong Spur and Be Kind.
Calvin Russell had some success with his charges and was also successful in winning the club raffle, much to his delight.
To all the participants, I hope you enjoyed your weekend and to the newcomers who were not successful, keep trying maybe next week at Werribee will be your turn.
