Elite Win In Muswellbrook GRNSW Country Challenge
Heavily supported in the betting ring, Something Elite started a pronounced favourite with his main challengers being Future Fund and Groovin' The Moo on the back of their heat wins.
Racing straight to the front, the son of Elite State gave his rivals no chance and bounded to a commanding 6 and ¾ length win, running a blistering 25.31 seconds over the 429 metre distance.
Marbill and Elite Thomas filled the minor placings and while trying valiantly to catch the leader, were simply following daylight.
The Muswellbrook leg of the GRNSW Country Challenge is the first of 28 finals across the state with the highest point scoring greyhound at the end of the 28 track series crowned GRNSW Country Challenge Champion and the connections collecting a $10,000 bonus.
The highly successful Country Challenge Showdown event will be conducted again in July next year at Wentworth Park in Sydney. The top eight points scorers in the Country Challenge series will be invited to compete in the Showdown and race for prizemoney totalling $20,000.
The next event in the 2008/09 GRNSW Country Challenge Series will be held at Taree, with heats this coming holiday Monday and the final on Saturday 11 October 2008.
