Victoria

The Victorian Racing Tribunal handed down its decision in relation to Tom and Andrea Dailly, from a hearing held on November 16, 2022.

– Detection of desmopressin (commonly used to treat water diabetes) in Radek Bale at Sandown Park on May 27, 2021.

– Making a false statement in denying that was administered to her registered greyhounds, which she later confirmed to , on September 27, 2021, that all her registered female greyhounds kennelled at her premises are administered a quarter of a tablet of Orabolin every day. Orabolin contains the substance ethyloestrenol.

– Failure to maintain appropriate treatment records in relation to the administering of Orabolin.

– Failure to maintain appropriate treatment records for the administration of Rimadyl tablets, which contain , being a Prescription Animal Remedy (Schedule 4 of the Standard for the Uniform Scheduling of Medicines and Poisons contained in the Australian Poisons Standard [Cth]).

– Failure to maintain appropriate treatment records for the administration of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid on various dates between in or around August 2020 and in or around June 2021.

– Failure to maintain appropriate treatment records in that he administered metronidazole to Providence Bale on three successive days shortly after March 6, 2021.

– Failure to maintain appropriate treatment records in that he administered Minipress to some greyhounds kennelled at the Premises.

– Failure to maintain appropriate treatment records on various dates from in or around April 2021, where pentosan polysulfate sodium (PPS) was administered to the greyhound on approximately three occasions.

– Failure to maintain appropriate treatment records that he administered Rimadyl/Carprieve injections to greyhounds kennelled at the premises on several occasions. Rimadyl and Carprieve contain carprofen.

Mr. and Mrs. Dailly both pleaded guilty to all charges, with one charge withdrawn.

Mr. Dailly was fined a total amount of $4,200. Mrs. Dailly was fined a total amount of $4,200 and suspended for a period of three months. Of that period, two months are in turn suspended for a period of 12 months. Should Mrs. Dailly offend again during the next 12 months, that period of two months suspension will be activated. The one-month suspension started immediately.

Radek Bale was disqualified from race five at Sandown Park on May 27, 2021.

New South Wales

Mr. Denis Hampson was charged under Rule 141(1)(a) of the Greyhound Racing Rules for the presence of tetrahydrozoline (commonly used to treat eye conditions) in the greyhound Heslea, after competing in race four at on August 4, 2022.

Stewards issued Mr. Hampson with a fine of $1,000, with $250 of this to be conditionally suspended for 12 months, pending no further breaches of this rule or any similar rules during this period. In deciding the penalty, stewards took into consideration Mr. Hampson's plea of not guilty and his excellent prior history, with no substance charges in 47 years of being a registered participant.

Heslea was disqualified from the event.

Mr. Nicholas Saloum was charged under Rule 141(1)(a) of the Greyhound Racing Rules, for the detection of strychnine in On The Blink, after it competed in race four at on July 19, 2022.

Mr. Saloum was disqualified for a period of two months, with one month partially and conditionally suspended for a 12-month period, pending no further breaches against this rule or any rule like this.

Stewards, in deciding their penalty, took into consideration Mr. Saloum's plea of guilty and his excellent prior record, with no previous substance detections in 30 years as a registered participant.

Queensland

Mrs. Susan Thomas was disqualified for a total period of eight years for:

– Failing to provide proper and sufficient food at all times to 18 greyhounds in her care and custody at her registered kennel address in or around June 2022.

– Failing to provide veterinary attention when necessary to 18 greyhounds in her care and custody at her registered kennel address in or around June 2022 and July 2022.

– Failing to exercise the care and supervision necessary to prevent 18 greyhounds in her care and custody at her registered kennel address from being subjected to unnecessary pain or suffering in or around June 2022 and July 2022.

Mr. Ken Boody was fined a total sum of $2,500 for apomorphine detected in a post-race urine sample of the greyhound Perfect Pacific, which competed in race three at Townsville on April 19, 2022.

Mr. Boody was also charged for failing to keep the greyhound at his registered kennel address from on or around April 16, 2022, without the prior permission of the controlling body.

Mr. Stephen Boody was fined a total of $3,250 and received a 12-month licence suspension, with stewards electing to wholly suspend the penalty for a period of 12 months acting under Rule 95(3) for:

– Permitting the greyhound Perfect Pacific to be kept at his premises from on or around April 16, 2022, when he was not the trainer or owner of that greyhound and without the prior permission of the controlling body.

– The detection of apomorphine in a post-race urine sample of the greyhound Perfect Pacific, which competed in race three at Townsville on April 19, 2022.

– Possession of apomorphine at his registered kennel address on or around April 16, 2022, which substance had not been prescribed and dispensed in with relevant state or commonwealth .

Mr. Trent Thorley received a 12-month disqualification for the permanently banned prohibited substance ostarine detected in the following greyhounds:

– Spot On Albert – race eight at the Greyhound Racing Club on August 31, 2022

– Spot On Polly – race three at the Rockhampton Greyhound Racing Club on September 7, 2022

– Spot On Harper – race eight at the Rockhampton Greyhound Racing Club on September 14, 2022
