Hector Fawley dominates Punter’s Bandit in Group 3 The Racecallers match race

The 2023 running of the middle distance Group 3 The Racecallers Showdown match-race saw the Group 3 placed Hector Fawley take on New South Wales Gosford Gold Cup winning greyhound Punter's Bandit.

Hector Fawley was coming in to the head-to-head match-race having been unbeaten in two starts at over 595m, both in April 2023.

Punters Bandit on the other hand had been mixing middle distance and staying form in NSW culminating in an unplaced effort in the The 715 at The Gardens, before failing in a heat of the last week.

And that was largely how the match-race panned out.

Punters sent out Hector Fawley an unbackable -1000 with greyhound betting apps, while Punter's Bandit started at +230.

In stark contrast to the other match-race on the program, the Group 3 Bill Collins Showdown, the 2023 edition of The Racecallers Showdown will not go down in the annals as one of the greats.

Hector Fawley used his natural early pace and inside draw to lead Punter's Bandit to the winning post the first time, and from there the result was a foregone conclusion.

Hector Fawley cruised to an emphatic 33.87 win, while Punter's Bandit did make up some ground late, she was well beaten by 3.71 lengths.
