Hot Times At Warm Canberra But Lord Prevails Again

As Canberra got it's first hot spell of what is likely to be a long summer, the racing matched it with some sensational runs on Sunday night.

The opening events saw good times posted over the sprint, Unique Unit takings the first, before claimed a running double with Miss who clocked a very impressive BON 17.59, kennelmate Galba Magic taking the third in 17.94 over and John Boy.

Gunning trainer struck back in the fourth event when My Mystery prevailed in the maiden 440 metre event, getting up in the closing stages over early leader Bush Capital, Miss Jagz finishing third.

Scoring the much favoured red box, Trimtex for Ian McFarlane left it to the last moment to prevail over Half As Mate in race five, scoring by a neck in 17.81, Mel's Magic rounding out the placings.

The red box continued to works it's magic in the sixth event, with Dyna Tasha taking out the Wagga to Canberra Final over Late News and Sunlit Hope.

Joining the racing action, local AFL club the Queanbeyan Tigers' Punters Club joined the fun trackside, putting on the seventh event, which gave Andy Lord his third winner for the day with bursting out of the boxes and recording the best of the night in 30.53, Sir Pedro running a very gallant second with 13 and three quarter lengths back to the remainder of the field.

Feature event of the evening was the Canberra Mower Services 0-2win Final, and after a sensational 30.46 win last week, 's Bannockburn Hope started odds on favourite.

It was Jimmy Johnson's Country Rebel though that spoilt the party making the victory her second career win, both from box seven.

The 30.83 win, saw the black bitch lead all the way, with a huge run from to finish second, favourite Bannockburn Hope finishing in third.

Race nine saw 's return to the winner's circle, claiming a 2 3/4 length win over Cawbourne Jake and Ammon Bale.

The final event going the way of Mad Marty Bee for Andy Lord in a smart 25.47, the tough final event a well fought out race with Pedro's Mobile giving Mark Chalker three seconds for the day, coming in third for Ken Staines.

All continues this Sunday in the lead up to the Canberra Mower Services Charity Cup on December 6th.
