Kensa shines on debut for Race A Chaser syndications
EXCITING youngster Kensa started her career on a brilliant note, scoring a scintillating victory on debut at The Gardens on Saturday night.
Stepping from box one over the 400m sprint, Kensa went straight to the early lead and was never in doubt, scoring by seven-and-three-quarter lengths in 22.68. The black bitch is trained in the Hunter Valley by Michael and Jodie Manuel and is owned by Race A Chaser Syndications, whose parent company Race Media owns Australian Racing Greyhound.
Syndicate Manager Tatum Osborne Young said connections were delighted with the run, with the future looking very bright for the 25 kilogram pocket rocket.
“Coco is exceptionally bred and she broke in sensationally last year so we have had a big opinion of her for quite a while,” Osborne Young said.
“It has taken her a while to make it to the track so it was terrific to see her go on with her early promise and win so convincingly.
“It is still early days but she appears to have above average ability so we are very excited to watch her develop over the next few months.”
Kensa is a daughter of Spring Gun and Little Bit Fancy which was purchased by Race A Chaser Syndications from the 2014 Richmond Riches Puppy Auction. Osborne Young confirmed that the $100,000 Richmond Riches feature event, held in May over 535m, is now a definite target for the speedster.
“Coco proved she definitely has ability on Saturday night and now we will hopefully see her work towards the Richmond Riches series.
“It is a big jump up in distance, but her run home time was very strong and she still has plenty of time to build up over more ground ahead of the series.
“If she can keep producing the early pace she showed on Saturday and stretch her speed out over 500 I think she will be a big chance heading towards the Richmond Riches.
“Hopefully between now and then she can continue to develop as a racer and gain more experience which is sure to see her improve on the track.”
Osborne Young said Race A Chaser syndications is looking forward to a massive 2016 after a successful past 12 months on the track.
“2016 is off to a great start and we are very excited to see what the year brings.
“We had a big year last year with 22 wins and 17 placings with only three greyhounds in training, two of which only started racing in late September.
“We now have greyhounds racing in three different states – Victoria, NSW and WA so it is great to see our chasers racing all over Australia and hopefully they can keep performing well.
“We currently have another 12 greyhounds in pre-training, some of whom are exceptionally bred and are showing potential, so there is no telling just how big this year could be for Race A Chaser.”
