Mandingo is the first qualifier through to the semi-finals of the Vic Peters Classic after winning the Gosford heat on Tuesday night.
The Doreen Drynan trained chaser scored by ½ Len from the early leader Uncle Bully with Tiggerlong Patch third in a smart 30.08secs.
Those greyhounds that finished behind Mandingo must now go through the qualifying trails to progress to the semi-finals.
One greyhound to impress on the night was the Carol Hudson owned and trained Fiery Opal. By Elite Starr ex Awesome Opal, Fiery Opal was having only her second try over the 600m when she led throughout to score in a smart 35.49 running sections of 9.02 and 22.02.
This bitch does not turn two years old until December so it looks like the Hudson's could have a very smart stayer in the making.
The John Harris kennel took home plenty of cash following wins by Leaving Debree and Billy Rubin. Both greyhounds were heavily supported and gave nothing else a look in with Leaving Debree scoring in a fast 23.18 and Billy Rubin in a quick 23.26.
Tuesday night's meeting was well attended with friends and supporters of the Carlingford Cougars Junior Rugby League Club on course to enjoy the racing.
Popular bookmaker Dave Dwyer has strong ties to this club and his wife Marianne Dwyer and her band of helpers did a great job in organizing the night.
