Melbourne Storm may have just Rinsed The Lot on Phoenix bet

The Melbourne Storm, led by Matt Trip, were a surprise addition to the list of slot holders for the world’s richest greyhound race, The Phoenix, announced on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.

Melbourne Storm Chairman and online bookmaker founder, Matt Tripp, has since doubled down on The Storm’s $100,000 bet on The Phoenix race by announcing they have already locked in their greyhound for the race.

The Melbourne Storm have decided their 2024 Phoenix runner will be Rinsed The Lot.

Owned in part by jockey , and trained in NSW by , Rinsed The Lot is the veteran of just nine race starts that have produced seven wins and two second placings.

The son of Barcia Bale and Mrs Mouse won the 2024 Group 1 Vic Peters Classic final at Wentworth Park in June, at just his sixth race start.

Unbeaten youngster Rinsed The Lot led all the way from box four to win the 2024 Group 1 Vic Peters Classic at Wentworth Park for trainer Michelle Sultana.

Unbeaten up to that Group 1 win, Rinsed The Lot has since had three starts for one win and two second placings, with the win coming in a heat of the 2024 (MDC) Regional Series.

The blue brindle dog finished second in the Maitland MDC Regional Final behind Barefoot Zulu.

Tripp reportedly was very to lock in Rinsed The Lot on behalf of the Melbourne Storm, due to his friendship with Avdulla and fellow part-owner and breeder, .

Avdulla posted on social from Hong Kong, where he is currently riding, that he is “very excited to team up with the storm” to race Rinsed The Lot in the $1.65 million Phoenix.

Rinsed The Lot has a very quick 29.41 personal best time at Wentworth Park but is yet to trial around The Meadows greyhound track in Victoria, where The Phoenix will be held in December.
