Michael Yawn On Debut For Bonaccurso’s Debut Owners

There will be an anxious wait for a syndicate of first time owners when their greyhound Michael Yawn has his first start in the 3BA FM Maiden at on Wednesday night.

Trained by Sam Bonaccurso, Michael Yawn will jump from an awkward Box 5 in the 450 metre race.

“We would have preferred to draw closer to the rails, even though he has shown in trials that he has plenty of speed out of the boxes.” Bonaccurso said.

“Hopefully he can lead from his draw and give the opposition something to chase.”

Michael Yawn is by , out of the dam Am Havoc.

Pure Octane was a prolific racetrack winner who recorded 1 victories in the , Championship and in 2005.

In his stellar 2005 year Pure Octane was also crowned the Australian and Victorian .

The dam Am Havoc was also a city and multiple country class winner whose damline has already produced the handy Probable Prince.

The syndicate will no doubt be hoping that Michael Yawn can emulate the feats of his blood lines and kick start his career with a first up win.

In an open race with a number of chances, the dangers could well be local chasers Oodles Valentino and Slipaway Lad.

Oodles Valentino for Lal Lal trainer Neville Vincent has been thereabouts, and ran a solid placing behind Dids at his last start.

Oodles Valentine has drawn the coveted Box 1, and will only need to step out of the boxes to be a chance in the race.

Slipaway Lad for will exit Box 7 in the race.

The son of has had one race start. On that occasion he jumped from Box 3 and received a check in running which ruined any chance he had in the race.

Slipaway Lad is sure to be improved by that outing, and it would not surprise to see him in the finish of the race.

Bonaccurso moved to Mount Mercer in June 2008 and has a training and pre training operation in the area.

He has only been training greyhounds for the past 3 years, but has already set up a base of owners and pre trains greyhounds for a number of the country's top trainers.
