MultiQuip Magic Maiden Series Brings The Cream To The Top Again

The 2008 MultiQuip Magic Maiden Series has drawn out some of the best bred greyhounds in Australia to race during the daylight hours at Wenworth Park on Monday 10th March 2008. Oddly enough thought, while the Group 1 Golden Easter Egg has been dominated by interstate raiders and professional trainers, this series has not attracted one single interstate bounty hunter after the $20,000 final prizemoney. This may be due in part to the poor $255 win only prize money on offer for the heats.

Having said that, the 16 heats are chock full of New South Wales best blood and we thought we'd take aquick look through the 2008 MultiQuip Magic Maiden Series Fields and highlight some of the genetically potential talent on offer.

Heat 1 will have Mark Sattler taking the wraps of his very young Brett Lee x Sally's Run October 2007 litter. Mark has two of the litter engaged with black bitch Casey's Run in Heat 1 and the black dog,Rocky's Run in Heat 6. Of course Mark was the owner and trainer of the 2002 x National Pride litter that was every owner/trainer's envy. The litter included Sally's Run ( prolific winner and group finalist), Rolly's Run (2005 South Coast Cup), Joey's Run (2005 Easter Egg finalist) and the super versatile star performer Kobble Rock (2004 ; 3rd 2004 Topgun ,National Derby Finalist, 3rd , 2nd Potential Stakes, 3rd Peter Mosman Classic). This mating brings in a very close double cross of Gun Law Osti and many breeding pundits will be watching this litter closely to help define future breeding trends.

Heat 1 also sees another interesting runner debut. Albert Kharn will start from box 3 and is a June 2006 product of the Modern Assassin x Collector Choice mating and owned by Jacqueline Manning. The dam, Collector Choice (Ultimate Wish x Special Mint) is a city winning bitch that has none other than For Me Mum as a grand dam and the line is one of new South Waels' most prolific winning lines with dogs the like of Franklin Mint (Franklin Dean x For Me Mum), Queen Mint (Franklin Dean x For Me Mum), Lindale Blue (Faithful Hawk x Queen Mint), (New Fox x Franklin Mint), Mint Mojo (Roanokee x Franklin Mint), Ayefell (Awesome Assassin x Queen Mint) and Blue Aviator (Faithful Hawk x Queen Mint). The Modern Assassin x Collector Choice mating builds upon the Light Of Fire / For Me Mum cross proven by Ayefell.

has been given the job of training the Over Flo x Atlantic Belle (Black Shiraz x Georgia Belle) dog, Free Love, for Harry Markou and will start from box 5 in Heat 1. While Atlanta Belle's first litter were less than successful, her dam Georgia Belle is reponsible for class greyhounds such as Brother Knows (Solve The Puzzle x Georgia Belle), Gordon Sly (Black Shiraz x Georgia Belle), Chtiling Alert ( x Georgia Belle), Persian Belle (Proper Tears x Georgia Belle) and Superstar Leo (Proper Tears x Georgia Belle).

is starting Daniel Son (Bond x ) from box 6 in Heat 2. Of course this black dog is a half brother to super stayer Miagi and will be very closely watched by many. This April 2006 mating brings in a nice rasmussen cross on the very successful Fletcher brood bitch, Lauren's Desire and his great grand dam is Small Amount who is in the blood of dogs of the calibre of Big Sam Banner and Banner Park.

Fascinate Marina (Hallucinate x Malawi's Marina) will be sure to have followers for owner/trainer from Wyong. The August 2006 black bitch is a half sister to the enigmatic flying machine, Black Cobra (Awesome Assassin x Malawi's Marina). Her grand dam, Sivler Cassie, was a great race bitch who has thrown on and features in the pedigree of greyhounds such as Penny Drum ( x Poverty), Chilli Bear (Token Prince x Poverty), Ronray Lad (Ultimate Wish x Innes Girl) and Ronray Lass (Ultimate Wish x Innes Girl).

MultiQuip Magic Maiden Series Brings The Cream To The Top Again! Reading the article on your website with the above heading. I as an owner am dispelled how it can state NOT 1 INTERSTATE dog is running in the series. I have sent my dog over to NSW to be trained by Jason Mackay solely with this series in mind. Having a young family of 4 children and another dog still in my kennels racing i just found it made more sense to send him to NSW a couple months before the series to acclimatise to another trainer and their… Read more »
