National Capital Distance Champs Warm Up

As Canberra gets set to hit full gear with the heats of the Lockwood National Capital Distance Championship, Sundays prelude meeting laid the perfect foundation for what is bound to be a great series.

The prelude full of quality runners including , Money Magnet, Bunny's Reward, and Osti's Exposure were all outclassed by Victorian who had his first look at the track to beat home Osti's Exposure who has just returned to the staying races, Money Magnet coming in third.

While the time wasn't sizzling the race still produced plenty, wetting the appetite of race goers for this Sunday's heats.

The second feature of the evening, the Canberra Mower Services Final, went to Jenmar Goddess who overcame the four box, beautifully to lead and record her third career, and successive win in 18.02 ahead of Evil Tadmore and Myalla Lehigh.

The opening events of the card, the Kilcoyne Kennels maiden heats over 440 saw even money favourite Heavily Armed for Lyn White and six dollar pop Rocky Crossin' for book their places in this weekend's final with respective heat wins.

White Heat, Vallee Temple, What's The Craic, Beau White, Deadly Grin and War Machine also making their way into the final.

First starter from the kennels Shark Girl started short in the third event, stepping second the Kali Crazy the blue bitch worked hard to make up the early ground winning by just one length over early leader Kali Crazy, Buncha Blowhards for Geoff Collins coming in third.

Making it two wins for two box eight start Sutton Tiger claimed the Climate Doctor 4/5thgrade 530m event in a smart 30.65 over Hotel Splendido and .

Gunning trainer Jodie Gilbert recording another multiple win for the card with Cawbourne Grace, and all recording wins.

The biggest winner of the evening going to John Thorpe's , who returned up to $30 assisting exotic punters with a healthy quinella and trifecta in the order of $400.

Closing events of the evening going to the odds on favourites Dark Cavalier for Lorraine Roy and Walkaway Tiny for Neil Collins in 17.75 and 18.49 respectively.
