Nationals Champ To Contest Tedesco Menswear Chairman’s Cup
The field for Saturday's Tedesco Menswear Chairman's Cup over 720m at Wentworth Park takes on a new look with the inclusion of the 2010 AGRA National Distance Champion Blue Lorian.
With insufficient nominations for heats and the invitation for fresh nominations closing today, this race is now a straight out Best 8 NG event.
Saturday's box draw for this Group 3 event which carries a winner's purse of $15,000, is reproduced below.
Owner trainer Peter Whye initially intended to miss this race, to allow Blue Lorian a break from racing, but has had a change of plans.
The NSW GBOTA is delighted with the quality of the field.
“We were disappointed that we could not conduct heats as programmed but the eventual result is an outstanding final – and to have the National Distance Champion included is a most pleasing outcome,” GBOTA Deputy Executive Officer Jeff Browne said.
“We were delighted to make special presentations last week at Wentworth Park to connections of our NSW Nationals champions Blue Lorian and Smooth Fancy, to congratulate them on their outstanding achievements.
“To have Blue Lorian back at the track this week to contest the Chairman's Cup gives the race a new flavour.
“Group race winner Forty Twenty is there after a decisive victory last week and the promising staying prospect Devine Nation is added to the mix after an impressive win at The Gardens last Friday – an exciting final beckons,” Browne concluded.
Gates open at 5.30 pm on Saturday with the first race at 7.27 pm. The Chairman's Cup goes as race 8 on the ten race program at 9.57 pm.
1st: $15,000 2nd: $3,750 3rd: $1,875 Unplaced: $100.
