The fields for the 2012 Macro Meats Golden Easter Egg heats have been published with the NSW GBOTA and event partners thrilled with the quality of this year’s contestants.
The Best 80 greyhounds will line up this Saturday night, March 24, in ten heats over the 520m journey, with the first four from each heat progressing to the semi-finals.
2011 Macro Meats Golden Easter Egg winner Radley Bale returns to Wentworth Park to defend his title, with trainer Graeme Bate hopeful the World’s Richest Greyhound Event will be a successful swan song for the four year old.
“At this stage the plan is to retire Radley Bale after the Golden Easter Egg,” Bate said.
“I am happy with how he is at the moment and box two will suit him, he loves Wentworth Park.”
2012’s heats will also include appearances from Wentworth Park 520m track recorder holder, Noble Pedro, AGRA 2011 Greyhound of the Year Dyna Tron and in form NSW sprinter Oaks Road.
Oaks Road mentor Mark Gatt will have five greyhounds line up in this year’s heats including boom youngster Super Centurion which recorded an impressive 29.69 at the Glebe circuit two weeks ago.
