2014 Group Three Dapto Maiden Semi-Finals Preview

Four semi-finals of the Three Dean Industrial Maiden Series will be conducted at this Thursday, with some talented youngsters set to clock some sizzling times over the 520m distance after stamping their authority in last week's heats

Semi-final one consists of two heat winners from last week, with Whittaker set to dominate betting after coming up with a suitable inside draw. The trained son of Milldean Panther and Mrs Trickett was ultra-impressive last week, clocking a fast time of 29.86 from box two after early interference. Topper Road for trainer was another heat winner from last week, leading all the way from box eight in 30.08. The speedy son of Oaks Road is set for improvement on the clock, but will have to overcome a tricky box six draw. Zipping Saxton had no luck last week after missing the start and getting heavily checked. The son of Spring Gun and stormed home to finish second behind Whittaker and only needs luck this week to produce another strong performance.

Only one heat winner will step out in heat two, with Colt Rocket producing a solid performance last week from box two, running down Fast Country in a time of 30.27. The Amy Bennett trained chaser will have an obstacle to overcome exiting from box six, however he showed good early pace last week and should improve on the clock. Encapsulate was impressive on debut for trainer Mark Gatt. After taking the lead heading into the back straight, the son of Where's Pedro and Surpassing faded in the home straight, but look for improvement this week from box two. Martin Clegg had no luck last week from out wide and found a heap of trouble, however gets a chance to redeem himself this week from box three. The son of Fabregas and Meredith Gray showed enormous promise after an impressive performance trial at and has the potential to give trainer Julie Fletcher two runners in next weeks final.

Winsome Prince was the fastest heat winner last week for trainer Melinda Finn, pinging the lids from box four and leading throughout in a flying time of 29.77. The son of and Winsome Shiraz faces a tough test exiting from box five, however has genuine early pace to burn off his rivals at the start in semi-final three. Dragon Emgrand showed good strength last week to finish second in 30.21, beaten by two and three quarter lengths and will only need some luck early to be competitive once again. Fast Country began fast last week to finish second behind Colt Rocket in 30.27. Trained locally by Cliff Bell, the son of and Country Dawn has the potential to run another cheeky race and qualify for the final.

Master Shot lived up to expectations last week with an impressive come-from-behind performance in 30.20. The son of and Midnight Movie will exit from box four as the heavy favourite in the final semi this week and will improve significantly on the clock with some room to move early on. Ella Has Class led all the way in her heat for trainer Dean Swain in 30.21 and has a great opportunity to take out this affair from box one. Cleaning Money was impressive at his first race start for trainer Gary Adams, leading from start to finish in a solid time of 30.20. Beautifully bred by and Clay Model, he has the pace to overcome a wide box draw and can also improve on the clock.

Semi-final one will kick off at 8.55pm, with the winner and runner-up moving through to next week's $25,000 final.
