ADA Mary was all class when taking out Saturday night’s Group 3 Summer Cup (720 metres) at Wentworth Park.
Beginning well from box four, the Sharon Grey-trained stayer quickly found the front in the run to the first turn and was a comfortable leader as the field entered the straight on the first occasion.
Racing through the pen and Ada Mary was tackled by It’s A Bird (box six), with the two going stride for stride entering the back straight before Ada Mary dug deep, drawing away from Mark Azzopardi’s chaser.
Behind the leader the field was cluttered, with five runners covering the space of around three lengths, with the favourite, Bourbski Fever (box five), trying to find a split amongst the congested traffic.
Turning for home, the field started to spread out in the charge towards the line, with Ada Mary a clear leader ahead of Zipping Echo (box two) and Serena Nimbus (box one).
The daughter of High Earner and Silver Shiraz crossed the line one-and-three-quarter lengths clear in a respectable 42.49.
Group 1 Bold Trease champ Bourbski Fever was never in contention, finishing fourth, three-and-a-half lengths off the winner.
Ada Mary has now won 16 of her 47 starts, including the Group 3 Sydney Cup earlier this year, with a total of $125,139 in career earnings.
