Avondale Al Smashes Gosford Track Record

Beau Hedley's boom youngster Avondale Al is the new 515m holder, after a devastating performance last night, clocking 29.14.

The son of and Avondale Miss came tantilisingly close to breaking the record last week, clocking 29.31 and missed out by just 0.01 of a second. Stepping out in race ten, this gifted chaser began brilliantly from box three, recording sizzling sectionals of 4.39 and 16.57, with a run home time of 12.57. The black flash set the Central Coast track alight, scoring by twelve and a quarter lengths, annihilating the previous record held of 29.30 held by Lochinvar Curl, since May 2012.

At just his second race start tonight for part owner's Beau Hedley and Mick Brown, Avondale Al set tongues wagging last week on debut, with many people predicting the record would go this week. Trainer Hedley was “over the moon” with his charges performance last night and there's no doubt this pup who is just 23 months old, has an enormous future on the race track.

“I told Mick after he trialled at Gosford in 29.37 that you know this dog will probably run 29.10. We are off to Wenty now and if he can stay unbeaten I will put him into the Vic Peters”, explained Hedley.

Avondale Al's dam Avondale Miss was no stranger to success herself. She held 400m record and won fifteen races from twenty seven starts for trainer . Her first litter to Mogambo also includes Avondale Storm, who was very impressive at on debut two weeks ago in 25.49 and is engaged at The Gardens this Saturday night over 515m. Avondale Miss had nine pups to back in January and is currently in pup to Swift Fancy.
