Awesome Project Victorious in Gosford Gold Cup

With the rain tumbling down on the Central Coast for the running of the Two , a line-up of greyhounds stepped out in a bid to claim the $40,000 first prize for .

Fastest heat winner Awesome Project ($3.40) battled for favouritism with Ferly Reign ($3.70) leading up to the race, after Ferly Reign gained a start from box two due to the scratching of My Signature.

Avondale Amor and Magic Display left the boxes beautifully and led the field around the first turn, with eventual winner Awesome Project checked to the back of the field. Reserve runner Ferly Reign looked for a rails run heading into the home turn, checking off the heels of Avondale Amor, forcing him back into the field.

Magic Display turned for home in front, before Awesome Project swooped down the outside to claim the prestigious event by one and a half lengths in a fast 29.88. Trainer Bradley Canty would be elated will his greyhound's effort and will head back to Aberglasslyn in the Hunter Valley as a Group-winning owner-trainer.

Other feature events on the Gosford program included the $7,000 consolation taken out by 's Gradence. Displaying his trademark style of powering to the line, clocking a run home of 12.84 and an overall time of 29.81. Owner and handler Joseph Scerri was clearly delighted behind the boxes after the win.

The Middle Distance Championship over the 600m saw a very impressive exhibition by Pride of Egypt, rounding up early leader Addiva in 35.05. A brother to holder Punch One Out, local Central Coast trainer will receive a handy $5,000 for her efforts.
