Bell Haven Breaks Through On Mainland In Sydney Cup Heats

Following two heats of the Group 3 last night at Wentworth Park, a sensational final eight will line up next Saturday night in the 720m, $25,000 to the winner final.

In the heats it was Tasmanian Bell Haven which broke through. Many had predicted the Ted Medhurst prepared greyhound would break through in Group company on the mainland, after landing herself during the AGRA Series, and tonight was the night.

Bell Haven was able to go with early leader before taking the lead at the home turn and withstanding a late charge from at the post.

Having led for most of the journey, Victorian Irma Bale will look to settle the ledger next week, having drawn box one in the final, with He Knows Uno drawing unfavourably for , in box seven.

Heat two went the way of Graeme Barnett trained favourite Hotwire. Beginning only moderately, the short priced favourite had to work to catch early leader Mr. Caluela, but was able to do so in the home straight, running away in the 42.74 victory over Buddy Right and Mr. Caluela.
