Canty’s Doll Wins The 2010 Vic Peters Memorial Classic Final

2010 Schweppes Vic Peters Classic Final winner was Isadoll trained by for Brad Canty.

Second was Red Flame, also trained by Wayne Vanderburg, for Roupen Nercessian, principal of Hotham Body Repairs, sponsor of the 's premier staying event, the 720m 1 Hotham Body Repairs held in January each year.

Third was Ringo's Colt trained by Tracey Hurst for Susan Lithgow. Tracey won this race in 2009 with Dancing Surf and also had the favourite (fourth) in that race for Susan. Fancy Mandy as favourite, ran third in this year's .

The slick 29.93 winner's time was only the third occasion this Classic was won in a sub 30 time since 1992, when the 520m track was converted to loam. Margins were 7 ¾ lengths x 1 length. Isadoll's record is impressive with 8 wins and 3 seconds from only 15 starts including a record of 9: 4-2-0 with a previous best of 29.99 at the track on September 17 last.

With a wing on every foot, Isadoll sped across from the eight box to cross to a clear lead at the post the first time and shot away to a commanding lead down the back. It was clear at that point that something out of the ordinary needed to happen for Isadoll to be beaten. It was indeed a one act affair and were absolutely delighted with the win.

Trainer Wayne Vanderburg, who was unfortunately unable to be there on the night due to a longstanding commitment interstate, did a great job providing the quinella – Red Flame ran a bold race finishing on resolutely but could not get close and in the end all honours were with the winner.

Congratulations to Wayne and Brad and all concerned with Isadoll, with a special acknowledgement and thank you to long time sponsor Schweppes for their support of this time honoured Group 1 age classic.
