Death Knell Sounds For Mudgee, Moree And Forbes Greyhound Tracks

Following on from the unpleasant 2009 Christmas surprise sprung on Moree and Forbes greyhound tracks, the two clubs plus now Mudgee have been dealt a similar blow.

At its December meeting, the Board of GRNSW determined that both clubs had not met the requirements of the Operating Standards, which is a condition of registration for every NSW
greyhound club.

The decision means that both clubs will not be permitted to conduct races or trials from 1 January 2012.

Both clubs have been invited by the Board to submit new registration applications demonstrating their achievement of all 16 Operating Standards. Once a new application has been received it will be reviewed by the Board at its subsequent monthly meeting.

Greyhound Chairman Professor AM said it was imperative that all clubs in NSW met the Operating Standards currently in place.

“The GRNSW Board regard the Operating Standards as a vital component of race club because they ensure adequate levels of service, efficiency, solvency, safety and
accountability,” Professor Allan said.

“At the beginning of 2011, the Board reviewed and streamlined these standards and the response from almost all NSW greyhound clubs has been excellent in regard to their documentation and procedures.”

Until a decision is made on Forbes' application the club will also not be able to conduct races or trials from 1 January 2012.

Capalaba Greyhound Club Setback

In other greyhound club news, the Greyhound Racing Club has received an unwelcome surprise of its own.

Overnight last Tuesday, thieves broke in to the straight track racing club through a storeroom door, stealing two large screen tv's as well as trashing furniture.

The total cost of the damage is not yet known an Police investigations are said to be continuing.
