Federer’s Boy Aces The Casino Rapidvite Maiden

A mid race move by Federer's Boy gave him the impetus to take out the rich maiden at Queen Elizabeth Park yesterday.

As is often the case in these finals, it was a jamming pack that went to the back of the track, and that was where Federer's Boy started his run. The speedy Hayden's Run had hit the lead at this stage, but he seemed to be “ankle tapped” and missed a stride, allowing Federer's Boy to take over.

Even though Hayden's Run balanced up again to set out after the leader, Federer's Boy held too many “aces,” and it was game set and match with a cool $4,000 jumping in. The greyhound is also Blue paws registered, so receive another $1,000 through that program. The time was 23.42, and the margin just a neck.

Fairy Hill trainer prepares the winner, and it was a big day for Chris as he also had Life Raft salute later in the day. It went around a packing field at the first turn and oddly enough, ran exactly the same time as Federer's Boy.

is having a good run with his dogs in recent times, and it continued with a winning double. Sid Rose Hi led from the first turn and recorded a smart 23.14, whilst Judy Rose HI squeezed through a narrow gap going into the back to go to the front. She went on to win by three lengths in 23.67. Trevor has a big team in work, and it is good to see him getting the rewards.

Condong trainer Ron Mc Calman is another who is having a good trot at , and he also landed a double. Teddy To go ran that time again (23.42) to win the Tom Soward stake by 5 1/4 lengths, and Buck Fifty scored in the Morgan's Butchery maiden winning by 1 1/4 lengths in a good 27.63. Ron hasn't raced his dogs at Casino very often, but now he has discovered this “hidden” secret, he should be back more often.

The quinella in the Tweed to Casino final went to with Pretty Panda just overpowering Kingsbrae Dust on the line. Coming back to the “home” track where they have had plenty of experience, they had the wood on their rivals and it was Pretty Panda who prevailed by a half head in 23.45.

The opening maiden went to Dean Turley's Elusive Spice who got in by head in 23.66, while ran the best of the day – 23.04 for Brian and . He railed under the leader on the circle and won well.

In the other races led all of the way in the distance stake running 35.74 for Peter Simpson; scored in the Free For All clocking 27.47 for Tony Marass, and Outreach ran 27.83 for the Bowe kennel from Queensland.

The Evans Head Euchre club were the guests of the club on the day, and we hope the forty five that attended had a good time. Thank's for the sponsorship ladies and gents, and we look forward to the next time.
