The Gosford Greyhound Racing Club has some exciting events planned for the months of May and June.
During May a series to be know as the Gosford Goldmine will be run, with the winner of the final to receive $10,000.
The race over 515m is for 5th grade greyhounds (as determined by the GRNSW TAB grading policy) with up to eight heats to be run on Tuesday night 3rd May. Semi-finals will be staged on Tuesday night May 10, with the rich final to be run on Tuesday night May 17.
Also to be staged on May 17 is the John Varley Memorial over 515m with $5,000 going to the winner. This race is sponsored by Centrebet and is for the best 8 greyhounds grades 1,2,3,4 as determined by the GRNSW TAB grading policy.
The month of June will see the initial running of the JB Lodge Ultimate Maiden over 515m with this year’s final winner earning $10,000 for connections.
Up to ten heats will be run on Tuesday night June 7, with semi-finals on Tuesday night June 14 and the big final on Tuesday night June 21.
The Gosford Club has also received permission from GRNSW to stage claiming races on a trial basis. A set of rules governing these races has been agreed upon and the Gosford Club is planning on staging at least one claiming race during the month of June.
These claiming races over 515m will be restricted to 4th and 5th grade greyhounds or a combination of both and the maximum claiming price will be $5,000.
The club is hoping that by staging these races some new owners may be attracted to our sport by being able to purchase a ready to race greyhound at a reasonable price.
As you can see, during the months of May and June Gosford will certainly be “The Place to Race”.
