Hayden’s Run Post Casino Greyhounds Best Of Day Win

Keen railing ability ensured promising youngster Hayden’s Run posted the fastest heat win of the Rapidvite rich maiden series at Queen Elizabeth Park last Friday.

Three dogs went as “one” in the run to the back section, but by holding the fence, Hayden’s Run was able to kick away to record 23.07.

He looked very strong in scoring by 6 3/4 lengths. Brad Northfield trains this locally bred dog (Brumby Lad – Kooringa Bella) for Mavis Wikinson, and it started off a good day for the kennel with the promising Bralyn Shorty saluting later in the day.

Plastic Smile lived up to her trial the previous week when she won the second of the maiden run offs. She virtually led all of the way for Angel Carter – King and hung on well to win by 3/4 length in 23.53. In the following race the Jeffrey Smith trained Rainbar clocked 23.40 when he took over going into the back, and won by 1 /2 lengths. It is not very often that Jeff’s greyhounds start at 16/1.

The final heat went to Cronkite who was never headed in running 23.44 for Jan Finneran. The first four placegetters go into two semi finals next Friday.

As is the norm, the distance race looked very open, and it was taken out Pilfered Booze. Originally drawn as the second reserve, she got a run from box seven and took over at the winning post with a lap to go. She won by five lengths in the end, and ran a respectable 36.21 for trainer Dean Turley and owner Elizabeth Brown.

Dellemma Solved landed a few good wagers when he raced around the leader at the home bend and went on to win by two lengths in the best time over 484 metres (27.64), and With Interest made it two wins in a row when he also got home late to run 27.74 for Rob Andrews.

A drop in grade from FFA class at Tweed to a 5th grade at Casino ensured that On Display would be hard to toss, and it proved correct when he won by a head in 23.40, while the aptly named Beer Day Friday shouted for his backers when he won in 28.37 for the Hamilton clan.

Regular visitor Tom Tzouvelis landed two winners with Flint Bale and Midfield General both saluting.
