Industrea Maitland Gold Cup Fields And Preview
Hot off the heels of the Golden Easter Egg, the Group 2 Industrea Maitland Gold Cup has attracted four quality 450 metre heats set to be run this Thursday.
NSW Greyhound of the Year finalist, Oaks Road has drawn box one in the second heat on Thursday, while Golden Easter Egg third placegetter, Desalle Bale has drawn box seven in the same event.
Trainer of Desalle Bale, Brendan Wheeler said he was pleased with the box seven draw, and her preparation for the $40,000 to the winner event.
“Desalle (Bale) doesn't mind it out wide,” Wheeler said following today's box draw.
“I think we will be running for second given Oaks Road has the red, but I was pleased with her in the Egg and if we make the final I will be happy.”
Wheeler will have three contenders across the four heats, with new 450m track record holder Barcia Bale a notable absentee.
“He got wide on the home turn last week, and bruised one of his outside toes,” Wheeler explained.
“I scratched him from Bulli last night because I didn't think it was worth pushing him.”
Maitland Regional Manager, Kayla Spliet said she was delighted with the quality of the fields and believes the stage is set for some fantastic racing over the coming fortnight.
